Nissan Qashqai rival with a few more trim and engine options. Does it, in manual transmission, lower powered versions, match the smoothness and refinement of the Qashqai? If it does better the Qashqai, is it by the amount of extra money difference between the two?

They're sell bloody loads of them won't they, yeah right, you do know that the price tag is close to 50 grand. It isn't affordable to most people and even if you can afford it there are loads of choices with that price tag.
