It would be wonderful if this museum could restore the locomotive to operation. I learned when I worked at Roaring Camp that the SP still operated the railroad with the steamers when I was in high school. They shut down in 1969 if I remember correctly. At one time the tracks reached from Trona, CA to Carson City, NV although it was several different railroad companies. The Virginia and Truckee was one part of the network.

i used to visit my dad whilst he lived in bishop and seen the museum change over the years from just a rail museum to a heretage park. nice to see at least they have a railbus running for rides.

Visited that museum several years back. I was constantly ringing the bell every time I had the chance. XD Number 9 also seems to be in better shape than I remember.

not sure if these are Baldwin locomotives or not. still cool though. could see no 8 at huckleberry railroad and no9 at sumpter valley railroad up in oregon maybe some day
