Hank tells us the story of the complicated chemical dance that allows our skeletal muscles to contract and relax Max: honestly this is just easy enough for me to still understand but it is absolutely mind-blowing that it basically happens instantly. I think go a car engine starting for example, as soon as you turn the key it sends the signal much like the Neurons do, and then the engine has to turnover, pump in fuel and air, ignite the mixture, allow it to explode, which moves the crankshaft and thus the drive shaft (well ignore the transmission) which turns the wheels and makes the care move. this whole process takes like a second or so and even still its unhealthy because you should bring your oil temp up and allow the transmission to engage properly before you just turn the engine on and go. But with our muscles its literally instant, which is so insane, its just as, if not more, complicated yet as soon as you think off something that action happens.

If your muscles contracting is the relaxed form, why does it take more effort and energy to kove around than to sit and do practically nothing?
