Remember that seconds, minutes, hours, and weeks were invented by humans. We have a thing for highly composite numbers like 24 and 60, as well as prime numbers like 7. Not quite as coincidental anymore.
reply

you're a BAD matematician, because a day DOES NOT contains EXACTLY 24 hours. Or in Britain there are no leap days anymore? So the scientific and informational value of this video is minus eternity.
reply

10! seconds is 42 days.
The smallest number divisible by all positive integers up to 10 seconds is 42 minutes.
What's it with 10, multiplication and time always having a connection to 42?

reply

Frankly, I prefer this over Matt Parker's -approx. Pi-billion seconds in a century-. The exactness of 10! seconds in 6 weeks is what puts it over the edge for me
reply

To say it another way, if you have 10 objects and want to list every possible permutation, and can list them one per second, it will take you 6 weeks exactly.

Why is 1 included when multiplying numbers for a factorial instead of just stopping at 2? Is it because they're considered real numbers instead of integers?
reply

I like how no one has mentioned that James has a games folder on his phone, I only recognize angry birds.
Does anyone else recognize a different one?

reply

Umm. failing to see why I care. This an artifact of arbitrary decisions to use a base of 60 for seconds and minutes, and having 7 days in a week.
reply

Much fun! Sharing it on my blog. (But in his enthusiasm, about 1: 49 Dr. Grimes says -How many weeks is that? - instead of -How many days? -)
