As the holidays approach, we prepare for festive trimmings and warmth. Today, let's journey back to the 1930s, where not everyone could afford a Christmas tree or gifts due to the Great Depression. Yet, in the face of hardship, people found a way to embrace togetherness. The streets sparkled with holiday cheer, and homes were adorned with artful decorations. Hearts celebrated Christmas with resilience. This video offers a vivid glimpse into a bygone era, where joy and connection triumphed. If only we could live like that again, where law and values were upheld by the majority of people, making a happier and safer environment in which to raise families. I thought the line up of dancing girls, The Rockettes, looked too contemporary for the time, the dress attire more akin to the 60s, also, the girl holding the Shirley Temple doll, is actually Shirley herself. Brilliant video and amazing accurate colouration, I really enjoyed looking at how well groomed every one was, elegant and dignified, can-t say the same for today I-m afraid.

Canned beer was not popular in the US in 1935. Prohibition was in full swing. The picture was most likely from the Netherlands since the cans in the vending machine look like Heineken.
Pantages theater is on Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood, not on Broadway in Los Angeles.

Almost all those people are already dead. It must be remembered that we are only guests who will be replaced by new ones. If they still have a place to live. SK

The caption at about 2: 21 on the video says -a girl with one of the first Shirley Temple Dolls, 1934-. Well that girl in the picture is Shirley Temple herself. -

Although hard times in the 30's you could feel the Christmas Spirit in America. America was such a wonder country until recently. Beautiful video.

Allen & Co. Produce, selling Christmas trees, near the beginning, looks like it was in Faneuil Hall, Boston.

2: 27 caption says -a girl with first Shirley Temple doll. Isn-t that -girl- Shirley Temple herself? Lol

Can you ask what other old treasures we-d like to upload and have an upload link at the end of the video?
