Former New York City Sanitation Commissioner Ed Grayson is here to answer the internet's burning questions about garbage. Where does garbage go after it's sent to the landfill? What happens if we run out of space in the landfills? Why do they still put garbage out on the streets in New York City? How does recycling ACTUALLY work? Ed

Cant believe Landslides are even a thing. here in my Country every pice of Trash gets recycled, they burn whatever they canot recycle and with the heat they create energy and heating for millions of people! Landslides are just for dumb lazy People that brush dirt under the Rug! First he explains how a Landfill -holds the trash- and then he says -Oh when its full its sealed- That isnt how -holds the Trash- works. thats just brushuing Dirt under the Rug, wishing for it to disapear. How about you start recycling those landfills? America seems to be one of THE Countrys that just throws away and doesnt do anything about it. Just use the Taxmoney to build Recyclign plants that burn the unwanted Trash and filter al the toxic fumes! Oh wait I forgot! The Gouverment is to greedy, so under the Carpet it goes! 0 Waste is possible btw, People are just to lazy to do it. The Gouverment is to greedy to implement it. Want fresh milk? Put up Vending mashines that sell you the wanetd amount. Is it a thing? Yes it is a thing. Do people do it? No. Why? Because they want milk that lasts them for 2 weeks for that 1 recipe where they need 50ml so they can dump the Rest f the Milk because it was so cheap! Make it more Expensive, same with Meat. We throw away so much meat because its to cheap! Wanted to cook that 1 steak that you had in the Fridge for the last 3 weeks? Just throw it away, t was cheap anyway, just get a new one! So unless we value what we have more, we wont go anywhere near 0 Waste management. It is a posibillity, but Poeple right now are to greedy, selfish and lazy.

I mean. The sand of the Saharah isn't much good for anything. Why don't we just take all our landfill waste and burry it out there? It might even help the desert stop being a desert. We need more trees right? Well, to not be sand, gound needs clay and dirt, and the ability to hold water. Rotting garbage becomes soil eventually, that's what composting is. We also build on landfills all the time. Why not just dump that stuff in the desert, burry it, and try to make a new Amazon in the Saharah?

My mother used to save bacon grease in a canning jar to use for cooking. I get it. not healthy but anyway. You can take tin foil and line a bowl, leave the bowl/grease on the counter, let it solidify, and throw it out. You can also make your own bird suet.

We need to start processing waste using mycelia. Check it out, it-s ridiculously effective. I turned a coffee can of cigarette butts into fertile soil using pink oyster mushroom mycelia. Pink oyster can be a solution for cleaning up oily waste as well,

I would say if you are tossing an old knife dulling the blade first to the point of being nearly flat is a good idea. You could also stab the blade into a large chunk of foam (that's what I do. Sword in the stone? Broken knife in the shipping foam!

I always make sure to tape my utility knife blades. i remember as a kid i was taking the trash out and got stabbed in the leg by a utility blade the punctured through the bag. Always make sure to tape it up.

One of the better commentators. Has an understated sense of humor, good timing, and does not seem to take himself too seriously. I could imagine meeting him at a party, and he would have the best stories!

I don't care if you're a garbage man, astronaut, school teacher, or whatever; if you are an expert in your field and you have the level of charm this guy has. I'll watch the whole video.

Food waste is 30% of what's in our landfills. Imagine if that was all turned into compost or bio fuel.
There're many obstacles in the way of making commercial compost mainstream.

You want to remain -the Gotham of the free world-. pretty sure Gotham city was dystopian. The place was a shithole. I love New York. It is NOT any kind of Gotham.
