I think that was a fairly accurate assessment as far as the difference between the 3 ideologies. It is quite frustrating when you have people say they are a reformist or believe in defunding the police and their real motives are more akin to abolishing. Defining your terms is critical when pushing for any type of progress, otherwise your movement appears to lack a common goal or interest.
From the way you introduced the concepts I assume you are a supporter of abolishing the police force. I have always identified as a reformist and think the only way to fight systemic racism and police brutality within the force is by injecting money into education and training programs. I do agree that social programs and new institutions need to be invested in, but i think an increase in taxes for the top 1% is the most logical source of revenue. I would go as far as implementing income level caps for the wealthy elite, with any additional wages being injected back into the company and/or community.
Call me deluded but I think the institution of policing itself is very necessary and prevents crime, death and risk of injury. The police service should not be militarized and should not be the answer to such a broad range of issues, but that doesn't mean its role isn't critical. Some people do good by their very nature, others will do wrong regardless of consequences and many do good because of consequences invoked by such authorities. I have little faith that social program and new institutions will alter our very nature, which is less benign and altruistic than people are willing to admit.
To be quite honest, I believe that fully dismantling the police would result in the creation of yet another flawed system that serves the exact same purpose. The best approach is to inject money into both the force and other institutions, whilst slowly dispersing some of the roles the force has taken on to other agencies or creating new agencies to take on these roles.
Even then, what makes a system function effectively is redundancy, which this instution can provide. And although police services are marred by a dark and questionable history, I don't believe its beyond remediation. Especially when there are so many officers that believe in the badge and changing the culture from within. You speak about the correlation between progress and vision; well my vision is a police force with a different culture, a culture of equality and justice for all. A vision that sees both new and old institutions unify in a concerted effort to overcome some of the greatest hurdles we face as a collective.

Anyone who does not get the point of 'differentiation of duty' i. e, the concept that some other more trained group or services framework can be used instead of cops;
Imagine if there was no Child Protective Services and it was a role to be played by the police instead of trained social workers in a structured framework. Imagine that. That is what they mean by abolishing and demilitarizing the police. The different duties that the police are supposed to be doing can be delegated and made into more specific programs. It's not that radical. It just seems that way because we are scared 'who will protect us'

If you seriously think defunding the police is a good idea then your honesty an idiot. The polices salary would be lower than it already is and in turn may force them to take bribes from criminals promising to not arrest them. This may also make more people less interested in being a cop resulting in less people being on duty when you need them. Also what about their training? The police academys may loose money from this resulting in budget cuts and a worse curriculum and training. If you havent noticed a policeman isnt exactly making as much as Mark Zuckerberg.

well in all honesty. do we REALLY need police? I mean the idea of modern policing is only about 150-200 years old and is relatively new and in the US it started out as the Slave Parrol and in Canada the NWMP which turned into the RCMP was initially to clear land and kill off aboriginal people. Society would take justice into its own hands and honestly police are not doing that great of a job lol.

B. L. M protests have been happening during an historic period of lock-down, America is on a precipice of financial ruin as a result, millions of Americans of all colour will be disenfranchised as a result, we will witness unprecedented poverty, homelessness, lawlessness etc. and you think now is a good time to defund the police?

So defunding the police means to take the money that would go into policing and put that into the community? I dont think that makes any sense because it isnt that simple. The budget of the police isnt enough to make such a big change that not as many people dont resort to crime.

All 3 are idiotic, If you support any of these ideas you want a lawless society because you want to break the law, is the goal here that these people want thieves, rapists and murderers to rule the land? Because that is all that will happen.
