I love that most mirror matches hint at something greater or have an implied web of intrigue that both characters are unravelling, but Shao doesn't bother dissecting it beyond that.
He sounds like he's just adoring the chance to beat the shit out of himself because it's the only time he's fighting someone he knows is his equal (As far as he knows)

General Shao isn-t evil like Shao Kahn, this version of him is just interested in fighting and keeping Outworld out of Earthrealms thumb, he cares solely about the safety of Outworld and any hostile alien threats to it he will take down, even the royal family. This Shao wants to rule solely because he believes his might will protect it.
