Hey guys, this was video was pre-filmed 3 weeks ago after I returned from NC. I really love a good foundation wear test, so I AmethystOrnella: Tati, I'm only 2 and a half minutes into your video, and can I say that I love you, but making a general statement that 30 to 40 shades in foundation is sufficient is something sensitive and in my humble opinion, you have to be careful speaking on that. I agree, 100 shades is excessive and can be confusing and yes, a lot of companies are just using inclusivity as a marketing ploy but honestly, the only problem with that is that they aren't developing the formulas well because they're trying to keep up and outdo eachother. When I say you can't speak on it, I mean that it's not difficult for you to find your shade. There are brands that make 30 shades and have 20 shades of caucasian (and I use that term loosely because albinos are also fair but they don't have to be caucasian) maybe 6 medium shades and 4 dark shades. That's an exaggeration but the point is that it's been done plenty of times. The problem now, as I'm observing in the makeup community, is that people with olive undertones have difficulties finding their shade. How many shades aren't the issue, the issue is that now, inclusivity is popular and instead of perfecting formulas before flooding the market, it's about who can do things the most quickly. Anyway, I love you, I really, REALLY value your opinion and respect what you have to say. That aside, I don't know if you can say a certain range is satisfactory, especially if you don't have the struggles of finding your shade and having options when you're purchasing makeup. That's all.

I definitely agree with Tati's friend. I think they did the research and put time into making enough shades that literally everyone could find something as close to not just their skin color but also their undertones. not to mention people have their winter color and then their spring/summer color. sometimes i buy makeup in the winter and then in the summer that shade doesn't work anymore but the next darker shade is too dark so i go to a different brand to see if they have a different shade. This line having 100 shades makes it so you would almost never have to switch brands in order to find a different shade, ya know? HOWEVER i do feel that some brands may do this in an attempt to one up and i think knowing aa brand and their history will tell you what type of people they are and whether their intentions are pure or not.

How are people complaining about too many shades? You literally cant have too many shades. There are so many different shades. I think its easy for people who can always find their skin tone will think its obsessive, but darker skinned girls? Girls with unusual undertones? They can never find a match that matches their skin instead of kinda looking similar enough and then just covering up their natural undertones. I understand the worry that its a marketing tool, but if it benefits people, is that so wrong? I really enjoyed this review, Im more commenting about everyones comments about this launch. I just think its easy to see 100 as a gimmick and overwhelming but if you look there are so many people who never find anything that enhance their skin instead of covering it up ya know?

TATI HELP I bought this foundation and I LOVE IT. The only issue is. Im typically a golden undertone, and the closest match I found in Ulta is TG3 BUTTTTTTTTTT its a smidge yellow (Like NARS status yellow. Im curious if the TG2 is a tiny bit less yellow, or if its just lighter. I tried to test the TN3, but that's WAY too neutral for me. Can you let me know what you think? I have been wearing the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation in 320, which is still yellow, but not as yellow as this. My instagram handle is laurawest_makeup: ) LOVE YOU

30-40 isn't enough. In the darker shades people still can't find their colour as good as lighter skin tones. Plus undertones matter. If you complain there's not enough and there's too much than who really is the problem? There's more than 30-40 skin tones. Darker black women find it hard because the beauty industry doesn't cater to their tone. It's the case for you because you are fair. You could find your time easy quick and simple everywhere. There needs to be more equality for this and that brand does that.

not at all upset about your opinion about the shade ranging now days, but as someone who is a light olive and yellow undertones girl I can never find my shade I've noticed with the popular concealers on the market that have about 30 shades tend to be too orange or pink for me: ( or (like the fenty one) I find a great match but the scent or an ingredient will break me out. So although 100 shades a little ridiculous, I think more brands may need to consider the very different undertones some girls have.

I half agree half disagree. I think its better to have too many options than too few options, and considering the fact that there are just unlimited different skin tones with different undertones 100 seems better than 35-40. However, I also understand that most brands dont want to spend the money to produce 100 shades if most of them are going to get few sales. Overall I think that many shades is maybe a little too excessive but I think Id rather brands go overboard than be not inclusive.

OMG This foundation is incredible Ive worn it all day in and out of the sweltering heat of Floridas summer and it looks perfect 12 hours later. Did not feel heavy, did not settle into lines and had great coverage. I put it on the Pur brush that looks like an Artiste brush and it went on flawlessly So impressed, I am going to buy a lighter shade for brightening because it conceals so well, you do not need a concealer and its crease free under my eyes Great review

As someone that does not have albinism but is so pale, that only Fenty 100 has ever matched me, I appreciate the 100 shades Because a lot of the brands with 20-40 shades still don't have the level of paleness, and I can't even imagine how hard it is to find the proper shade and undertone as a POC. I think it's a great idea to do 100 shades, but I do understand why people who don't have a hard time finding a shade match think it's a bit of overkill.

Im actually super glad they came out with 100- Im a ginger we can have very fair skin- Ive NEVER been able to find a foundation that matches me. still to this day. 2019 So I dont wear foundation - Ive given up -And trust me girl Ive gone everywhere. I have a blue undertone skin colour and a lot of foundations are yellow undertone or rose undertone they never work. so MAYBE FINALLY Ill be able to find a shade that works.
