Sarah Jessica Parker Narrates the 1940s in Vogue. As Vogue celebrates its 125th year, we look back at the history of fashion, and the magazine, in a series of -five points- videos by decade, narrated by the stylish Sarah Jessica Parker. venture: Just did a presentation for school on the Rosies (Rosie the Riveter) of the 40s and the Lucies (Lucille Ball) of the 50s. It's an incredible period shift for women. In the forties, they insisted on the strength of the female workforce. But postwar fifties told women to go home, put the overalls and pantsuits away, the men are here now. Obviously this didn't last long and the outbreak of feminism in the sixties was no surprise. Sorry if this is long--but I love this series, Vogue! Fashion history is so important in order to understand the background and ways of life of the populations of different periods!

I do not think Vogue could have picked a better narrator. Bravo! Truly enjoying these-- at last! Something of substance. The last line, -What the world needed then was love, and Dior delivered it in the form of a dress-. marvelous!

I love Christian Dior. Lowkey teared up at the closing statement, -what the world needed (then) was love, and Dior delivered it in a dress. - We need that now more than ever.

The music is so soothing. Feels like I'm sitting in a comfy hotel lobby or like I'm in that one painting with the couple sitting in a diner, I think it's from the 40s too!

Good job, Vogue! This is what you really are; class, brains, style and elegance!
Love your mini series with wonderful SJP! Can't wait for more of this!

This is one of the best Vogue video series in a while. SJP's voice is so beautiful and I just love the inherently SATC vibe of it all! Well done Vogue!

This is a type of video I could easily get used to! Oh Vogue that was a wonderful idea. Now hire Sarah Jessica Parker, she needs to be a regular.
