Windows 11 and Older Computers - Chris Titus Tech
video description
I've invested an awful lot into special Windows software to do certain jobs as a blind person. None of it would be supportive in Linux. So now I'm going to have a $3000 boat anchor. Because I'm stuck with windows weather I like it or not.
Apple did this to me too. My old iPhone can't be upgraded from iOS 12. At least they provide support in the way of security updates for the older iOS.

There is nothing new in Windows 11 except round edges around the windows and snapping Windows here and there on the desktop. With an additional compulsion of TPM, millions of PCs will be obsolete. The things that could be done with an app, are being presented as an entirely new operating system. It will generate ewaste as well. 7th generation CPU PCs and motherboards without TPM modules are still being sold. Paid stooges of Microsoft, should awaken their conscience and raise their voices against this windows 11 scam. Microsoft should be ashamed!

I have a really nice computer but it has 1.2 TPM and to be honest, was looking to buy one of the chips because I really think that Windows 11 would do my computer some good, I can't seem to find a motherboard for an SFF form to fit a Dell it's a 9020 and this computer is SO fast tricked out with 32g of ram with a really decent card, but I won't buy the chip I might stay with 10 I don't want to and I will continue to look...but sigh-

I personally think that windows 11 is not good at all, windows 10 is one of the fantastic OS after XP and 7, I switched to linux, Ubuntu 21.04, a few weeks ago, coz I didn't like Windows 10s ram management at all, the reason I cannot upgrade to windows 11 is, the only DAMN CPU Generation, I even have TPM 2.0, I have core i5 6th gen which has no support whatsoever for windows 11

Microsoft only make money on Windows installed new PC's Laptops and devices, they make nothing from upgrades. So they hope this will force people to buy a new device when they can't upgrade. This has all the hallmarks of another Windows 8 debacle. Everyone will hate it and they will have to keep windows 10 in support beyond 2025 or give in and lower the required Hardware specs.

My uni uses Windows and forces to use Windows only software. I bet there'll be ways of installing Win11 on a VM, like I did for 10, but I am optimistic that they won't upgrade till way after I graduate, so hoping I won't have that headache. Before starting uni, last time I used Windows was 98se in 2005. (Except 3.1 in DosBox: You gotta play Civ2 and Sim Tower somehow)

The TPM requirement and usage is going to frell things up even for people with computers that support it fully. Mark my words.
I am not one of them as my CPU is a mere i7 5960X so obviously it's shit according to Microsoft and of course Intel even though said they would have, never implemented TPM on it. Guess where I am going to shop for CPU next time!

in my attempt at installing the developers preview and enable secure boot. I messed up my spare Windows 10 PC. When I tried a re-install of 10 , said I was missing drivers, after two days I gave up. Funny thing Ubuntu installed without an issue. FYI: I have full Windows 7, 8 and 10 install discs, none worked (missing drivers).
