-DistroTube, I watched you switch to emacs then back to vim then back again over the past year. I also noticed whenever you use emacs you do things like you explain why you prefer Doom to Spacemacs, and you don't use vanilla emacs because of the RSI problems the keystroke macros (chords) can cause.
OK, but it still looks to me like you're seeing emacs, Spacemacs and Doom as a three-way choice for emacs you're locked in to. You know that's wrong. :) Spacemacs and Doom are literally just emacs settings. They could have been anything, emacs could have been anything. It's like you're still picking from the out-of-the-box choices. Sure, you can start there, but you're better pursuing vanilla emacs until you're good enough at it to be somebody who could make a Spacemacs or Doom emacs distro. When you're that good then you open up the emacs world because now you can use emacs so vanilla emacs, Doom and Spacemancs are not your only choices.... at that point you become Neo in the Matrix when he finally gets it: emacs can be vanilla emacs (the emacs settings and packages you get from the latest download) Doom emacs or Spacemacs (emacs settings chosen by third parties) BUT it can also be anything else besides those three versions. You can have DistroTube emacs and you can have it look like something that isn't like any of those three choices. emacs isn't restricted to out of the box experiences, they are all just examples. The vanilla version dates back to those space cadet keyboards nobody uses anymore. emacs can be none of those three releases! Learn how to set emacs up yourself! You don't really get emacs until you get all three of those distros are just preferences but you can choose your own preferences. Then you're -really- in emacs world. :)

It's really hard for me to move to emacs full time, because of ranger file manager. It's keybindings and selecting with space just makes sense. And other thing about emacs is, i cannot get image previewing in 'Dired' to work. Otherwise emacs is really cool and you got me to use mu4e and emacs text editor with evil mode to replace neovim.
Really nice and enjoyable vids of Xmonad and Emacs.

I used xmonad in the past. Now, in arch, not long ago I tried to install xmonad again, and I went thru more problems than the last time, not being able to make it work. I concluded that xmonad was being underused or abandoned. I'd really like to use xmonad again. If you have any tutorial to make it work in current arch linux, please would you hand it over here? thanks !

You put your finger on it right there at the end Derek. Emacs is just a beautiful piece of software. 2021 will be my -master emacs and C programming- year. Thanks dude, as always...

As it is known since dawn of time, Emacs is an amazing OS missing a comfortable editor to work with. Doom emacs and spacemacs fill in the missing gaps.

-8:00 doing -#+begin_src sh :results output- would have made the output be normal. That is because of the default behaviour for shell output.

Each time when I watch your videos, there always something to learn. Something new. Or a good massage. I mean Something positive. Love it.

how does one support the emacs devs via for example patreon? one can support fsf but I want to support emacs development specifically.

How do you rescaled the size of the whole UI? I've a high DPI display and unfortunately I need a microscope to use Doom Emacs
