The crypto being bad for the environment argument is such nonsense. One of the good things about crypto is that it's better than the current banking system. People say crypto mining consumes as much energy as a small country. Do you know how many things consume more power than small countries? For example. the banking system? You need staff, buildings, a ton of nonsense that just isn't required by cryptocurrency. Most people hate crypto mining because they can't buy their graphics cards. Yet again, the most vocal group. Don't get me wrong, I would also love cheaper GPUs, but that has nothing to do with crypto being bad for the planet. And as far as I know, most of the studies people point at are either drastically wrong, outdated, or misrepresented. Also, the crypto miners are motivated to use clean energy because it's the cheapest energy, and they get the biggest profits from it.
Edit: The banking system in the US consumes more energy than the entire crypto sphere worldwide.

When I was young, all the server (Pre internet) all the sysadmins where told, the hash you stored was the password + username + a server seed, why can't web servers do the same thing admin's where doing 30 years ago. it makes getting the password files pointless, as the hash is only any uses on the server get it from, back then you could not do dictionary look up as the user name, that just stops the lookup, and the seed stops some of the other ways of finding the password.

It starts with the government being able to control your vehicle directly, like with the kill switch instead of laws. Then they will start controlling your phones, like being able to turn on everybody-s camera when they are looking for someone. Or turn on everyone-s microphone if they have a voice sample of the person they-re looking for.

The meat being bad for the environment stuff is extremely biased/incorrect. All the cost/benefit studies you see have extremely incorrect methods that include a ton of costs incorrectly in meat (like counting all the water that falls on the field as being used by the cow among many other problems) and fail to include things for plants

You can detect if your phone is on when -off- by looking at the electromagnetic signature and comparing it to a base line (when the battery is verifiably dead due to physical limits in the cell technology and maximum capacity. Deep learning networks can also help with this classification of states.

Crypto miners are no less efficient at heat generation than an electric heater. You could literally replace heaters with crypto miners and heat your home rather than just using resistive heating or gas heating, making the whole energy concerns almost a non-issue.

EXACTLY crypto is -bad- for the environment but its such a new and small thing compared to the whole picture.
And also, why can't miners harm the environment but every other company on the earth may kill every living plant and volume of fresh air?

There are communities of people, all over the world, which _do not_ mine crypto, eat meat, or burn fossil fuels. They are self-sustaining. They produce (nearly) _zero emissions. _
We call those communities. _cemeteries. _ -

Did they at least require each car to have a unique kill switch?
Seems kind of weird to require something allowing any malicious party with a computer and the right radio equipment to freeze all traffic in sight.

So why the click bait headline? If your topic is supposedly about the Swiss Army's directives on messenger software, deal with it first. Basically you're trying to lure viewers to spend more time. Well, f. f!
