Rob, can you make a video/research on a hardware mics which might spy on people even though the phone is actually switched off? Couple of years ago I have heard about a protocl which can send a huge amount of data as very small chnuks, using an insane compression rate. Would be nice to find out more about these technologies, as they might lie just in front of our nose and still only few might see them.

Rob! I-m a 67 year old gramma who barely can navigate email, but I love listening to you, and much of what you talk of makes darned good sense to even me! I have done lots of things wrong over the years on my computer, but you are helping me correct a lot of that. Keep up the great work. Thank you for all your help and guidance!

My phone service wants me to upgrade my phone saying 3g is going away. So now I stand here staring down the rabbit hole.
The strange thing is they want my old phone that -will no longer work- and they will give me a -deal- on a 5g phone.
The flip phones come with google assistant. hmmmm

I thought the newer Pixel phones are capable of doing the voice recognition locally on the phone, without relying on the cloud? is this correct? Or do they still send voice data over the internet? Maybe the query is done locally, but then sent to could servers for lookup and response?

synthesis? Do recall, 40 years ago, DoD was using speech synthesis and voice recognition in fighter jets to allow the pilot to free his hands for other things. Do you know how that is protected? Could an enemy hack that system and bring jets down?

Rob, we can't cocoon ourselves.
. We are a part of this tank of sewage whether we like it or not. We can only minimise privacy issues, and even then all it takes is a pos bacon burger to turn up and take our stuff over a false complaint

Thank you very much for your diligent work to provide us with info on privacy. I've learned more from you in the last year than in all the years since I got my first computer in 1998.
