Japanese Ryokan with Private Onsen Experience Shinhotaka Onsen in Takayama Ron: Allan, this was a very well done video. nicely done. You spoke very clearly (you can't imagine how so many videos are so difficult to understand) and you did a great job of showing the room, food and Onsen. We're planning to visit Japan for our first time in October so I had some questions (1) The Japanese Cedar Bath in your room and the Open Bath are just meant to bathe in. they're NOT an Onsen? (2) When you went to the rooftop and tried out the two Onsens, I gather you had to book this so are you only allowed a certain amount of time? I gather that there is no roof or covering, so if it rains you're naturally exposed to it? Other than the 2nd Onsen having rocks around the edge, it looked the same as the first one. Yet, you said you preferred the 2nd one. can you say why it was by far nicer? (3) Some Ryokans provide various drinks and snacks in case you're hungry. Wasn't sure if this one did? Really appreciate if you can help clarify my questions. Thanks again, Ron

That was obviously a true bug of the beetle family, an outside bug, not the kind that infests a place but the kind that might come inside if it gets a chance. I actually like knowing that 1) its a sign of how rural it is, and that 2) there arent a lot of pesticides around. It might freak me out too - but only bc I am phobic. Its a big sign of how much we are accustomed to urban developments - its definitely natural and not something to be concerned about. Its a good thing.

I really like your videos! This one in particular I find it a little too long / too much inessential talking. Id cut out a little more like for example the seconds you turn on the lights in the bathroom where its still dark and cant see anything.
But like always: love your unique style of calm videos.
Keep up the good work! And thank you!

My roommate and I are going to Japan in September, and we are staying at the same Ryokan: ) I know this was a part of your 14 day trip, and we were wondering if you purchased your train tickets (Shinsekai) in advance? If you did would love to know what sight you used? Thank you for this insightful video: )

Hello! I am very much interested in staying at a ryokan onsen just like you did. Very much like where you stayed in Takayama. May I please ask how much did it cost for the both of you to stay overnight in that ryokan onsen? All in all including the booking and the food. Thank you so much!

Oh, I love a hot open air bath in the rain. Here in US we call them hot tubs, once I was in an outside hot tub with maybe 12 other people in the snow - it was wonderful! We were all sitting in the hot water with a little pile of snow on our heads!

We just got back from an incredible trip to Japan. Because of your videos we stayed at Yukimurasaki and it was incredible! The balcony onsen was perfect! So good that my partner proposed there! So thank you for the excellent video recommendation!

Just booked a night for two at Yukimurasaki in Nov 2022 purely based on your recommendation. Thank you. Travelling from Melbourne- now just hanging out for borders to open for tourists.

We will be staying in this ryokan this October. How do you get to Yukimurasaki from Takayama station by bus? And how do you return to Takayama city from the ryokan the next day?

I was struggling to find a good ryokan with private in-room baths online. Thank you! You just solved my problem. I just booked two nights at this one through your link.
