Wat Phu Tok Temple in Bueng Kan (, Thailand! - Castle Rock Cove in Satun: Welcome to Bueng Kan (, the ultra relaxing province in the Isaan region of Northeastern Thailand, on the Mekong River. It-s a place you can visit for relaxation, Isaan culture, and especially adventure and nature. One of the places I was most looking forward to visiting in Bueng Kan is a temple that-s built on and surrounding red mountain rock, called Wat Jetiyakhiri or better known as Wat Phu Tok Temple - lonely mountain temple. #BuengKan #Thailand #WatPhuTok The temple was originally founded by Ajahn Juan who loved the mountain for its dangerous wildlife such as tigers and snakes. Eventually monks build a series of shrines, and ladders, and wooden plank walkways around the rock outcrop, with seven layers. The 6th layer is the most thrilling and adventurous - there-s an entire circumference of wooden planks around the rock that are hand build and anchored into the rock. You-re around 300 meters high with nothing below you and just a wooden plank between you and falling all the way down. The 7th level just includes nature and views from the top. Wat Phu Tok is without a doubt one of the most adventurous, slightly dangerous, and scary temples I-ve visited in Thailand and also one of the most beautiful and thrilling. Highly recommended!

mysterious temple - Wat Phu Tok, Si Wilai Traveller Reviews - this temple was somehow on top of a cliff. it is quiet and good for scenery and mediation. I linked to this temple by chance from a movie CD. then I said to myself, if I have the opportunity, an angel will bring and guide me there. somehow when I was in Udon and Nongkai. I didn't manage to find anyone who know about temple on cliff without nails. I say to myself. well if Angel do not want me there. then no choice. if not there will be a guide or instruction and direction as as I don't know the name of these temples. I only know the structure and how it was built )t by a monk who is in deep meditation and do not know about the engineering of column and beam- an Angel( Devas guided him to built ) was to the top of this holy mountain-. ! There is so many temples in Thailand. how am I going to find this temple! May the Triple Gem guide me-
somehow when I draw a picture of the temple. 2 mountains with a bridge. and ask around in the city. nobody know what I was drawing- I was almost going to give up when an old man told me is far from udon/Nongkai about 2hrs by car. but not sure is the same temple that I am looking for. I say ok. fine. let try it out- since of coming so far. I want to be there. if wrong temple. just take it as a ride expedition-.
somehow the next day I was ask to help to deliver medicine to the countryside. near this temple. I say is ok since I will be on my way there. is ok to help out. as I don't have this opportunity to deliver medicine to the countryside always-. ! when reaching there. a lady that came to know that I was looking for this temple, offered me to show me the way to the temple. there. how I ended in these temples.
the view was great and the surrounding vibe of peacefulness! I am glad I have achieved this spiritual goal. and I am happy to be in this temple by one of the students of Ah Chan Mun! indeed I am lucky and blessed for my wife who gave me so much freedom to visit all these spiritual grounds.
I will be back to this temple again if time permit although is quite far away-from Nongkhai
Thanks!

My first Thai GF lived in the small village at the very base of the Wat Phu Tok. I never asked to go up and she never asked me too. Now i know why. We did visit another temple a couple of times near by that was on level ground (i have no idea of the name. The ground resembled what i would expect the moon surface to be like, yet it was virtually completely free from the sun due to the magnificently huge trees, very surreal and beautiful. I nick named the monk there -the funny monk- as he cracked jokes that had his audience in constant rapture (though i had little to no idea what he was saying. As a round eye white guy in such a remote temple, he was fascinated with my leg and arm hair follicles. You see the Thais usually have none. Great Vid btw.

Glad your foot attire is up for the challenge lol! What a great temple tour.
I was living and working in Kardamena, Kos. And there are - scorpions, the small brown ones are more detrimental than the larger black ones.
My apartment was a bit of the beaten track so I used to stomp with each step home in the dark. --

I went there when I was 10s and remember very well how
excited and worried when moved every step. I thing they
repair the deck better than those days. It was memorable
experience. I had no idea about the place but never forget
the temple deck as I felt walking on the cloud.

Waaw. Breath taking views. And a dense deforestation on the top of the mountain. U wouldn't say it the top of mountain. Love the structure of the wooden pathway leading up to the mountain. It's amazing. Just love it. Thank u for sharing. -----

I don't think i would want to visit this temple. I would want properly sign posted arrows showing the right pathway, i would want parachutes, in case i slip off the wooden passage. i can go on. not for me. Your wife is brave, i have to say.

Thanks for taking us to this sacred place. I would love to go there for meditation one day. It was a forest monastery built by monks and novices and the late senior monks were highky revered monks; a lot of miraculous stories.
