My husband and I had honeymooned in the Cook Islands in July 2019. We are from the USA and the Cook Islands are a bit unknown to most Americans. But we wanted to go to a place that was a hidden gem. We were not disappointed. We stayed in Rarotonga and Aitutaki. Both islands were truly paradise on earth. The most beautiful islands weve ever seen with some of the friendliest people weve met and we are a well travelled couple. We cant wait to go back!

It's like Hawaii in the 1900's before Hilton; no high rise at all. I stayed at a beach bungalow in Rarotonga and a luxury resort in Aitutaki but my favorite is the Islander Hotel by the airport in Rarotonga. It's rustic, seaside and open restaurant with chickens and cats roaming around. I was expecting Humphrey Bogart and the beautiful German spy Marelena Dietrich to show up at the bar.
