2020 Ford Explorer 2. 3L Review Base Engine Perfection

Ford's base engine in the 2020 Explorer is something of a surprise. With 300 horsepower and the only 10-speed automatic in the segment, the 2. 3L Ecoboost Explorer is seriously quick. With solid 0-60 times, a new rear wheel drive chassis and some of the widest tires you'll find on a modern crossover, this is the first time the Explorer can be described as a corner carver. But Ford didn't stop there, there's also a towing capable hybrid model, a fire-breathing ST model and in Europe a plug in hybrid as well. If you've ignored the Explorer in the past, it's time to put it back on your shopping list

Love your videos Alex but I respectfully disagree with you on the 2. 3L. At least the last generation one. I drove one of these as a rental a few years ago and it was horrendously underpowered in my opinion. I was FOOT TO THE FLOOR with a full load of passengers and I could barely hold highway speed in Colorado on i70 over the continental divide. I get that that's one of the worst highway grades at elevation in the country, but still I had maybe 1k pounds of total cargo and it was struggling that much. I cant imagine hooking a trailer up to this thing. Overall even at 5k feet near Denver's it was very anemic. Rant over. Again, love the videos

Can't easily access the third row with child seats installed come on Ford. The grill looks like my Braun razor. Please tell me those front fog lamps are also dual sequential turn signals T Bird style at least. The thing is pushed like RW drive is a good thing when it should be AWD standard for that money.

alexonautos, can you please comment on off the line performance on normal, day to day driving? Is it peppy or is there noticeable lag? I'm asking specifically about the 2. 3L. Thanks.
