-joyfulvulture I've watched that video numerous times. You misunderstood his closing remarks: The Audi's R-tronic gearbox isn't as good as the Porsche's PDK or the Nissan's flappy paddle gearbox. If you want an automatic supercar, then get the GT-R (which beat your precious Turbo. If you are a petrolhead and buy a manual transmission, then you'll have to find another video which compares a manual 911 Turbo and R8. If you are a fan of automatics, than god help me, you are not a petrolhead.

-joyfulvulture Type in -Cayman S laps Laguna Seca. - Their professional race driver says, -I think it's better than just about any 911 except, maybe, a GT3 RS: like the top, of the top, of the top, and it's just a plain old Cayman. - -Again, the mid-engine, that's the right place for that weight. - That is a subjective opinion from a highly decorated race driver. Do what you wish with that information. Feel free to prefer the 911. I prefer the Cayman S. You won't budge, I won't budge.

-joyfulvulture I acknowledged that fact several pages back. The Porsche has 1 win. The Audi has better performance figures in the skidpad, figure 8, 30-70, braking and power output. The Audi has 5 wins. Couple that to the subjective professional opinions of car reviewers, and I must conclude that the Audi is better than the Porsche in more categories than the Porsche is better than the Audi. Therefore I prefer the Audi. That said, I prefer the Cayman to the R8 and the 911.

Not only that, but both Autocar and Motortrend declared the Cayman S the best car in the world. If you are any kind of car fan, you will know how unusual, rare and monumentally significant it is when a respected car review agency declares a world's best car (2 is unheard of.

-joyfulvulture There is nothing wrong with your preferring the 911 Turbo. My issue with it is its erroneous engine layout and the inescapable fact that the cheaper Cayman out-handles it. I couldn't live with a car that hasn't been designed to be as good as it can be. The Audi, on the other hand, was designed to be as fast and useable as possible (like the Cayman, evidence being that Audi detuned the Gallardo's engine to make it quieter and smoother for everyday use.

A Cayman is easier, a 911 is faster, on any track, you juste have to compare the laptime, even the 996 with the 3. 4L is fastet than the Cayman s!
Why? Because, thanks to its rear engine, the 911has better braking capabilities and higher speed on corners exit! What do you prefer: a car that can corner 1 km/h faster (the Cayman) or one than can brake later and reaccelerate earlier?
