New Toyota GT86 TURBO vs McLaren MP4-12C
video description
That all aside, I-ve driven the gt86 and I really liked it. I would love to own one. It really needs a skilled driver to make it go fast.
Still waiting for a touge showdown video of an old 22B or Type R Impreza vs. a Gt86 or Brz on a tight, twisty track. Would love to see a Brz or Gt86 tackle a legend from the past.

How come supercar fan boys always want to move the goal posts on videos where it's clearly stated that a less expensive car was modified and it ends up winning? The supercar is being used as a benchmark. That's it. Calm down.
-Change the driver. -
-Make the 86 change the McLaren. -
Hell I watched an Acura Integra beat a Veyron 0 to TWO HUNDRED miles an hour and the comments are shit like
-But I bet the Veyron pulls away after 200. -
Half of you can't even afford either car.

GT86, yes it is fast, but its on slicks and stripped down to perform on a racetrack.
- yet I think the GT86 is really trying -hard- its all over the place while the McL is just -cruising along-. only thing he says is that they are just 3/10sekond apart, its nothing.
But again. its a track car vs a stock supercar. what did you expect?
- but I still think the better car is the McL, its more composed.
- but I think the GT86 would be so much more fun to drive.

Basicall you'd need a full on track car 86 to compete with a MClaren 12c. Hmm Says a lot about Toyota Engineering Prowess. I reckon with the money the average person would spend on doing a full out track 86 having to buy all the parts and pay for labor. You'd be better off purchasing a 981 Porsche Cayman and be able to keep your Manufacturer warranty and oh by the way have a superior car(performance, practicality, ride comfort) to the 86. Just my 2 cents.

GT86 will be one of those chassis' that people will tune and do engine swaps in for decades to come. You can quite easily fit an LSX or a 2JZ into that engine bay, sure it screws with the car's natural balance, but some people like mental cars and don't care about centre of gravity.
Personally I think the best option is to build the FA20's bottom end and turbo the stock motor. Keep the low COG and get double or more the stock power output.

If you ever see a GT86 with carbon fiber hood/trunk, and it's not dry carbon; It's just for looks.
The aluminum hood/trunk is often times as light or lighter than most CF pieces (because most of them are just 2-3 layers of fiber glass, and then 1 layer of carbon for looks, and the thousands of dollars you pay for real dry carbon, you'll only save as much weight as a solid poo.

-The McLaren is not bad either- Besides the fact that most people can not afford it: 'D I mean I'm sure most people would agree the MP4-12c is not a bad car except the price tag is pretty bad. I mean of course that is without taking into consideration that it's a McLaren you're buying.

Hi
Watching this video again while I'm buying my second FRS (GT86) with every mod but a boost AND all installed at my Toyota dealer to keep the full factory warranty. (Dropped in a walk around video if you want to check it out. This little car is the best money I ever spent. twice now!

In the sense that Toyota 86 gives more youngsters a chance to have a taste of sports cars and develop the passion for driving, the 86 is much much much better car than McLaren. All the idiots commenting toyota 86 is a low end sports car, I bet they have never driven one.

The biggest problem with this comparison is the track, its a short track with lots of turns so the McLaren can never really use it's power, a better comparison would've been a de-tuned 12C
