Drag Race: Tuned V10 Audi RS6 vs AMG E63 S vs Porsche Panamera Turbo - Autocar

Here's a fast estate straight line speed test with a bit of a difference. Two cars here are the obvious new ways of going really, really fast while having space for, I don't know, some luggage or a dog or something. They're a Mercedes-AMG E63 S estate, and a Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo. Both make more than 600bhp. In fact, the Porsche makes quite a lot more, but is heavier on account of the fact that it's also part-electrified, and can even be plugged in, so carries around the weight of its batteries. Which should make for a close-run contest. Then there's the outsider: an Audi RS6, the V10 version, made between 2008 and 2011. As standard this would be somewhat down on power over the other two, but our used contender has had a power upgrade to also make considerably more than 600bhp. Their respective values are quite different: you can pick up a lovely example of this RS6, including modifications, for -40, 000. The Mercedes is a bit more than twice that, and the Panamera is a bit more than that again. So what's the fastest, and best value way, to absolutely terrify your dog-? - Please do not terrify your dog. No dogs were terrified, or even mildly alarmed, in the production of this video

I need to really ask, who would go out and buy such expensive cars to do this! Drag racing and numbers are not the important aspects of any of these cars (Though the numbers are impressive, as their main roles are to provide luxury to the driver and their passengers. Think of it like this, the Bugatti Chiron just hit 304 miles an hour. Great! Where in the world are you going to do that, especially on a public road, or daily drive. It-s not practical, and while it is a -Cool- accomplishment, it is just not worth it.
So my conclusion? All three of the cars are great, and all fit into the different price ranges of different people. Instead of making a video about the head to head aspects of the cars, lend three people one of each for usage over a month and get back to them to hear some real feedback,

Even with the detune i'd take that RS6 over the other 2, in fact over the 2 next gen RS6s too any day. That Biturbo V10 is a monster waiting to be unleashed with some proper tuning. If it had 650HP it should've been somewhere in the neighbourhood of 900-1000Nm of torque. Idk how they managed to get worse results than the stock car with that kind of grunt. The worst result i've seen for a stock RS6 C6 is 12. 4 sec for 1/4 mile and 4. 1 sec 0-60MPH and 4. 5sec 0-100kph. Keep in mind my slightly mapped 2. 7TT A6 with 330HPs and 580Nm does 1/4 mile in 13. 5secs at 112mph i think there is something really wrong with that RS6.

Id argue somethings wrong with that RS6. For example, a tuned A6 3. 0t with around 450HP at the crank can do a quarter mile in the mid to high 12's. So how is it a 600+ HP RS6 did the quarter mile in 13. 3? I understand its a heavy car, but its not THAT much heavier than an A6 sedan. Stock 0-60 time was also advertised as 4. 5 seconds for the RS6?
something obviously went wrong with the RS6. A supposed gain of 9mph over a quarter mile and 7 and a half seconds? Did the RS6 go into limp mode?

reply

Every time I see a video of that RS6 generation, they always seem slow for what their actual power output is. heavy, and a bad gearbox?
The issue is, a standard A6 3. 0t with a remap can do 0-60 in nearly the same amount of time, with a bit over half the horsepower? Something doesn't add up. you can find videos of tuned RS6s making more horsepower than that, and smashing the quarter with 11. 5s-12s

Major issue with that C6 RS6. Those 0-60 & 0-100 times are slow for a stock one, yes I'm factoring in a sub par race surface as well. and let's point out the Porsche and Merc pickup 27mph from the 1/4 to the 1/2 mile. whereas the Audi picks up 9mph or one THIRD of the other two DESPITE being tied for the highest quarter mile trap speed at 124mph. blow off a lower IC pipe lol?

It's a turbo Lambo V10 in a station wagon. who cares how fast it is. Honestly if the AMG was not just as cool and with such a nice interior. I would go with the cool Audi any day. Even without the tune.

Sorry guys, I was the one who tuned the RS6. When drunk. And depressed. Using orange crayons for the calculations. Whilst enjoying carnal relations with my hoover.

Have you guys noticed the smoke and dust cloud behind the Panamera between 3: 42 and 3: 44? It looks astonishing - like the one of a jet fighter at take off
reply

Thats not much more than stock probably just a generic flash map. A custom MRC tuned stage 1 or 2 rs6 C6 would leave the other two in the dust.
