The Tesla Model Y is an SUV/crossover variant of the world's best selling EV, the Model 3. Based on the same platform as the Model 3 but around six inches taller and a little longer, the Tesla Model Y will go on UK sale early in 2022, priced from -54, 990 for the Model Y Long Range, as tested here. At launch there'll also be a faster Model Y Performance variant. Both are five seaters for now, but more models will surely

Watch out! It may make you throw up. Our brand new Model Y Long Range, collected 23rd February 2022 from the NEC in the UK, made in Shanghai so actually made in 2021, gives us headaches and makes us throw up. It has standard 19inch wheels with awful Hankook tyres, whose tread pattern looks very similar to that of a 7. 5te truck.
With no parcel shelf supplied, the pounding of these tyres on the road, amplifies throughout the cabin to cause a reverberating sound pressure wave that assaults our ears, similar to the sound pressure -beat- when being close to a helicopter.
After Tesla Service Nottingham agreed this -was harsh to the ear- and then, gave us -they are all the same guv & it will wear off after 200 miles or so as the tyres wear in- typical dealer guff, we tried driving it again.
We got headaches after a few miles and our driver had to stop to throw up at 120 miles.
At 543 miles, the reverberation hasn't -worn off- and we can only reduce it a little by increasing cabin pressure via turning on -bio defence mode- or driving with the windows open - not a realistic option on motorway journeys obviously.
Tesla told us that we should approach Black Horse Finance - Tesla's finance partner in the UK - if we wished to achieve a -mutually satisfactory outcome-.
Black Horse Finance initially assured us that the vehicle will be returned to Tesla for a full refund and so, to stand by for their vehicle collection contractor to take it away.
Weeks later, it seems that Black Horse Finance may be going back on their word, after Tesla told them the same -they are all the same guv- guff and declined to fix it.
Apart from this obvious, fatal flaw, we love the car and would be very happy if Tesla fixed it.
Or, if Tesla took it back, we would happily order another one (maybe even a Model Y Performance) - assuming that to be booming reverberation-free - as we see from other reviewers that this problem seems to have been fixed on new production out of Giga-Berlin.
We have had a Model 3 Long Range for 2 years that we love and have a Model X Plaid reservation, that we are saving hard for, in the hope we can afford one when UK pricing gets announced.

Remember your car will not drive itself on the Autobahn either, be careful out there as we drivers are all thicko's according to moto journalists stop patronising us drivers. And what's all this about small print T&Cs! It's a ruddy great big message centre screen that you have to accept before using Autopilot for the first time and then a smaller message each time you use it thereafter, Oh sorry I forgot, we cant read either!

I-ll keep saying it till they listen, I-m not interested in any EV car till
: you can charge one in the same time it takes to fill a petrol car up
: plus no sound who wants to drive in silence not me exhaust noise is part of the driving experience
: and they sort the range out of all EV cars
: finally the prices are extortionate because EV cars are not a new invention they we-re making them in the 1800s

This vehicle was said to be the Long Range Model Y although I saw a -Sport Mode- on the screen. In the US to have Sport Mode in the Long Range Model, you must pay $2000 extra. Was this option added to this car? I believe they call it acceleration booster which achieves 0-60mph in 4. 2 sec. as opposed to 4. 8 sec

Amazes me how using a mobile phone while driving is illegal yet car manufacturers are able to move almost all of a cars controls (plus many additional complex features and options, onto essentially a 15- mobile style device? Call me old fashioned, but cars like this feel like nothing more than a home appliance too.

Just a general question. Teslas are pretty power full vehicles. They can smoke basically any ricer and many supercars on the road. But I noticed EVERY Tesla owner in UK drives like grandpa. At least 10 mph below speed limit. NO drag racing on lights. Not even overtaking on dual carriage way. Why is that?

You didn-t mention that the car improves overtime with over the air updates and is one of the safest cars on the market today for crash safety. Unlike ford and other makers, they just in the market trying to look like they can compete, but are too stuck in their old ways.

All the settings you do it once save in profile i mean that no issue at all i think. Got model 3 most fun car i ever had and i had, bmw x4, c class2019, bmw 5 series. And best part cheap to charge at home no expensive fossil fuel.

Would never buy something with only touch screen controls for major functions. Especially since its very unreliable and slow on a cold day. Very low quality interior and shoddy build quality are also huge turn-offs

So many trolls in the comments - this will sell like hotcakes just like it did in China and USA. It-s an unbelievable platform and the 3 is a dream to drive. If you haven-t driven one go try one then comment
