Good Video Eric. Here in Southern California due it's a dry concrete jungle without a rust problem we don't replace a lot of Charcoal Cannisters, but when we do I've found the Aftermarket (particularly Dorman) makes (Garbage) replacements that last a grand total of 1 month so we have to use OEM which are awfully expensive - between the OEM Cannister and the Clock Spring in this video you're lookiing at $600-$800 in parts alone. And unless it throws a CEL, even though the Airbag Light is on most people don't replace these. We have Emission Inspections here hence whatever turns the CEL on (which is an automatic fail) has got to be replaced. Again here in SoCal, there is a significant problem with Evap issues (why) with just about anything European the Air Quality Management District (AQMD) has granted waivers for almost all Cars when the Evap Monitors won't close (thank God.

I work with body shops, so I see a lot of steering angle sensor issues. Toyotas are the most convoluted process, and it varies quite a lot by vehicle. Typically, you can completely ignore your EPS module; it's entirely unrelated. Usually the SAS functions are done through the ABS/VSC or Brake Module -> Reset Memory, then some combination of Test Mode and Check Mode. Afterwards, it is CRITICAL that you press any buttons in the car instructed by the scantool (Hill Descent, Brake Hold, etc, and those buttons will be in the weirdest places you'll never look.
Service Info can be helpful, but it's not always complete even directly from Toyota. I often find myself fiddling with options until I find the combination of processes that work.

Hey Eric just touching back. This video is working good. No issues viewing on YT homepage previews. Plays as expected in entirety. Good sound and has progress bar for instant reply. And I watch ad free for free. Please keep these upload settings default.
I recognize settings on your end may or may not be my issue. But this one is working. Thanks. Bring your business down to Florida. Taxes up there have to be killing you.
I think your online reputation is enough to open shop anywhere in USA and pull business.
Your a bit rural upstate in a lovely small town, but it's still NY. Gov. Desantis just got a bill passed to reduce property taxes incrementally until elimination. And no DEI in schools.

Goooood morning kids! Mr O. How hot is it! I called it quits yesterday when the heat index hit 120 outside. It's always hotter in my shop than it is outside. I finished up the oil pan gasket on that Liberty 4x4 (that was no fun in this heat) and I called it a week. I am loading up to head over to the river this morning for some much needed catfishing. The rule around here is: If nothing is scheduled for Friday before Thursday, I take Friday off to go fishing. ; ) It's good to be the king. Here kitty kitty kitty

As long as you don't clean off the patina you should be good for the car show. Toyota I'm sure could slip a zip tie in once in a while. Nice location for the cannister, right next to the tire. On Toyotas I've bridged rust spots in the frame with angle iron bolted to the frame. Drove it until the spring mounts fell off, then sold it to someone for the low mileage engine. Why do we put some much salt on level sections of highway is beyond me. Thanks Mr. O.

I don't get why it seems like every plug on a car has a lock for the lock on it now. I don't remember plugs just leaping off before those were a thing. I've spent more time dicking around with those locks than the rest of the repair. I did a set of plugs for my old journeyman the other day on his Cruze, I was sure I was going to break them so the coils just got flopped out of the way still plugged in. I really only do Fords, so those little locks were new to me.

23: 15 A few people feel the need to point out nitpicky, but technically correct safety tips, and this gets whined about in probably more than half of your videos- you've allowed them into your head so easily, your mind is role-playing as the commenters in real time as you're performing repairs. A tiny portion of comments got you arguing with a camera lens -, then you say everybody's so sensitive. Ironic.

I wasn't aware of check mode. Good to know.
I do appreciate the DLC door. My least favorite one is the early aught Forester with the inset DLC that's too small to fit some bluetooth dongles and if you just stick the cheap little ELM327 you keep in the center console in there to check status or look at some quick live data, you can't get the blasted thing back out without a bunch of cursing.

The rotted Jeep you talk about sounds like 1998 Ford Ranger I looked at. Manual tranny. slave cylinder gone clutch gone. I crawled under it and everything gone that you mentioned. PLUS HALF THE ENGINE CRADDLE was rotted a way. I think that was the fastest I ever crawled out from under a vehicle. How the engine trans and gas tank wasn't laying on the ground was beyond me.

22: 35 i would only be interested in letting lawnmower guy know a video was being produced, so i would blow the horn a little more than that 26: 34 you started searching for the OBD port and i spit out my coffee all over my porch deck! 33: 00 on getting sticker glue off plastic i use Coconut oil, then dish soap. Gets the glue every time and wont harm the plastic paint!

Does your scantool have the ability to run the static evap selftest This is a feature in Techstream/GTS since the electric leak pumps were first introduced in mid-2000s. It's a huge time saver, usually around 10 minutes, and runs the entire evap cycle in your bay without needing to test drive. I bet it's hidden in the tool menu somewhere.

Another great video. but I had a chuckle when you mentioned being hot (and then your perfect temperature of 69); won't be seeing 69 probably until late September where I live (in fact, last night didn't get below 82. That said, I'm down south and don't have the rust; so, I got that going for me. wink, wink

Bought a Toyota Echo in 2010 for $3000, drove it until 2022 when I had a chance to buy a 2004 Honda Civic. End of the day, it owed me nothing so I gave the Echo away. I did tires, brakes and exhaust, plus oil changes. Guy that got it, crashed it. Oh, well.
Did not know about check mode.

P1441 chasing on a classic 96 v6 firebird is still fun. Every time a part is tested it disintegrates. . On other more modern cars we a cleaning more often in areas where dirt, grime, etc ruin the wires and bolts. Always learning from your experiences. Good work.

16: 04 Just pretend you are drummer and drum the outer wheel ring, with both fist.
Like you hit table, when you get angry. But remember, no force is needed, just rhythm.
It will pop out, 100% of the time, every time. No tool's, needed.

33: 27 you will have to get a pair of those Meta glasses and then just wear them when you get some seriously rotten cars in while the customers are waiting then do a voice over later for it, that car would have probably been an eye opener to see
