Honda Civic Type R review - the best hot hatch on sale? Autocar

Rating: 4.5; Vote: 2
The last Honda Civic Type R was an absolutely fantastic car - it was fast, made a good noise and was great fun to drive. This new car is slightly different on paper. It s larger, with a longer wheelbase and a wider track, as well as being nearly 30kg heavier than its predecessor. However, power is up to 325bhp, thanks to an upgraded version of the 2. 0-litre turbocharged engine with a lighter flywheel, increased air intake capacity and a freer-flowing exhaust. All that sounds great on paper, but does it translate onto the tarmac? Join Matt Prior as he tries it on both the road and the track to find out.

The new Civic seems to be really really nice - irrespective of variant.
Honda seems have repeated what it did with previous gene.
Namely, base variants uses the same suspension geometry as the R.
Meaning, the base Civic handles every bit as great as the R.
Sure with bit less grip due to less grippy tires, however same handling balance.
Meaning, irrespective which variant person drives, they'll all feel great to drive.

You all realize that every reviewer who's reviewing this car is unable to say anything about bad about it without being shunned by Honda in future right?
I don't mean to say the car isn't great. But if it isn't. You're not going to hear that from anyone who has exclusive launch access.

I love this video at large. you remind me of what someone once said. Making money is an Action, keeping money is behavior, Growing money is Knowledge. I once attended seminar and ever since then i been waxing strong financially, and i most tell you the truth.

Great review as always.
However i noticed two different colours in the review.
Why wasnt the red shown when driving on the public roads?
Every review thus far has been a white type r, u guys had a red type r and didnt show any external shots.

Thanks for the review and covering the driver differences in the FK8 and this one. Can't wait to see the head-to-head comparisons with the latest generation hot hatches.

I cannot believe they are also doing the nonsense thing of pumping sounds through the speakers. its absolutely NOT ON. Horrible, bad for you Honda.

Had a 2nd Gen 'R'. loved it, although watching the VTEC fuel drop was hilarious when the beans were given. The want on this one is high.

The same size, weight and power as a 20 year old M3. But we're calling it a civic, so you think it's a little hot-hatch. The future!

Young kids from 18-25. And adults from 35 to 55 would have a hard time affording this car. Perhaps you could get a used one for 43k.
