Never understand these things and who wins and how. I own a 255 hp box base and have never had a Z, Mini-Cooper, M2/3, S2000, Audi TT, 4C, Mx5 etc. -. outrun me on the highway. Yet every time I see these videos, all of these cars will outrun a Boxster? Other day I am out for a weekend cruise. Little Lotus, I think an Elise--he never got by me so I wasn't really sure, pulls up behind me as I am passing a truck. Gets right on my tail. Clear challenge. I was doing about 80mph, dropped it from 6th to 4th and just walked away from him. So bad, he must have taken an exit. I slowed to 75, slow for this section of freeway, but never saw him again. Geez, hope he wasn't in a ditch somewhere. My point is don't listen to this stuff. Go drive them. For example in a 350z (the 370s are a little better) at about 120 you feel the car lose pull. In a Boxster, it is just beginning to rock.

Clinging to the souped up Beetle idea are ya. The Boxter layout is optimal for a sports car. Not a real Porsche my arse. If Porsche were to give the Boxster and Cayman the same engines as the 991s, they would not be able to compete. With the engine in the GT3 and it's kiss it good bye. The original Porsche was not much more than a re-bodied VW. Over the years, every time Porsche built a new model, the stick-in-the past folks, like you, screamed. More like penis envy I should think.

Recently bought a Boxster. Had to be the 3. 2 S because it's quicker than your Focus RS's etc. and it's actually designed to be a sports car, not an everyday car on steroids. The Focus RS is a hatchback and in essence a boy-racer. They belong to two different markets. Yes people say the Boxster is for those who can't afford a 911 but I disagree. Even if I could afford a 911 I still wouldn't buy one. Great fun and love the sound! Roll on summer so I can drop the top down: )

What most of you dont get, when comparing these two cars, are that its still a Ford Focus. Its still a hatchback with loads of space in the trunk and a useable backseat. Its still a Ford Focus with fairly good fuel comsumption and low tax/Insurance. And it beats a modern Porsche, with RWD? Well, call me silly, but thats just an achievement right there. The Porsche was never built to be a hot hatchback - it was built to be a sportscar.

There will always be more expensive cars to get. Why not just buy the car you want and can afford and be happy with that?
If you worry more about a cars image then whether it is a good car or not, then you probably have have a word with your psychologist about confidence and self esteem.

That Boxster has a few extras - exhaust (remus. I have a standard 2. 9 and a mountune fiesta mp215 - very lucky I know. The Fiesta is a proper pocket rocket and covers ground faster than the boxster in the real world. its small size helps. So the fiesta is for me on my own and the box for when you have company.

Between the too, i would have the Ford, cause the ford is the best Focus and it has rally pedigree were the Porsche is the basic, cheapest Porsche and has no history on it. The Focus will be remembered as a Rally classic, a beast of the road, where that Porsche will just be an old not so rich guy Porsche.

Nope, what I'm saying is that the Porsche boxster is a poor mans Porsche, and not a proper Porsche. I would rather drive an awesome tricked out Ford, than have people laugh at me for not being able to afford a 911. I don't even like Porsche, so I think you have gotten it all wrong I'm afraid.

The Focus St Mountune is faster than the standard Focus RS. Why the RS is 80 kg heavier they said it has 300 bhp it doesn't, one magazine tested one it only had 280 bhp. The Mountune St is meant to have 256 bhp but it doesn't also 280 bhp. So you got the power but the RS weighs more

Boxster anyday. mid-engined, flat 6 equipped sportscar. people are hating on it because they've never really experienced it. or can't drive one without bending it round a tree. :D. Focus is great hot hatch, but its still a Focus. :D. its the POV that matters
