The Volkswagen Golf GTI - if VW hadn't made the very first Mk1 GTI back in 1976, some of our favorite high performance hatchbacks probably would have never existed. Music: Field Force by Sawsquarenoise From the Free Music Archive CC BY NC SA

In the 80s I wanted a beetle. My dad bought me a used 81 Rabbit Diesel L 4 door with 160k miles for 1600. It was british racing green. It was slow, but got 60+ miles to the gallon and diesel was something like 62 cents a gallon. Guess who drove his buds around and never asked for gas money. Me. Guess who sold that car 5 years later with 190k miles for, you guessed it, 1600. Me. except for a head gasket replacement (simple on this car) no major issues, and it it is something I wish I still had. But I do have an MK1 Scirocco and MKVI Golf R. And, I think I invented rolling coal in that old rabbit too. ha

They had a problem, the Beatle kept selling and they needed to replace it. Why does no one question this? If something sell, you sell it and make money. This is not a problem. The only problem the Beatle had was government regulations making it obsolete. Meaning, people wanted to by it, but VW couldnt legally sell it anymore. Except in South America. Where they had less regulations on cars. Proving my point.

The beetle is alive and well. Its. called a 911. (Kidding (Kinda)- WOW, that really pisses Porsche owners off when one calls their 911 a bug Try it- it's worth the LOLs) Hey, bro what year Beetle is that? It isn't cool unless it's air-cooled (WWII-era engine pancake, etc)

I think you need to revisit the GTI episode like you did with the skyline. Talk about the different versions of the GTI. I have a 20th anniversary and its probably my all-time favorite car

good video. The GTI is not only a legend but a motoring icon. Still having the feels for my 2006 Mk5 GTI which was sold in 2016. heck even the non car buffs know what a GTI is.

Had a Mk3 Cabriolet with a vr6 swap and was honestly the most fun and lively cars I've ever driven. Sure it made at most 270whp with all the upgrades but she scooted

I own a gti and was looking forward to watching this video. I love your energy and enthusiasm, but there was none for this one. make a new one please

You should do one for Cabriolets, it may not be very long, but it would still be nice for us owners. Also you should do one about the GLIs.

There should be a special place reserved in hell for people who buy hot hatches with too many doors that look like the diesel your mom drives.
