I remember seeing them for sale in a store like 15 years ago when I was moving out, looking for tie down straps. I thought they were ridiculously overpriced for a chunk of molded silicone, but hey, niche item. I forget how much they were, it was a lot though, like 50 or something. They were in a blister pack with black cardboard I believe. I cant believe I remember where I saw them and the packaging; probably because I was shocked.
ninja edit if anyone cares - it was the flesh coloured one with one of the nuts lower than the other, the original one as far as im concerned.

For years if you google street viewed my house, all shots coming up to my house showed my new lawn and vehicles. All except the one directly in front of my house. That one still had the previous owners living there with the old garden island that was ripped out from the middle of my lawn once I moved in there.
Could never figure it out until one day it hit me. There was a set of chrome nuts and trailer hitch hanging over the sidewalk from the back of a muddy jeep. lol.

I had a pair of veiny flesh-colored truck nuts on my '79 Firebird in high school. They would drag over every speed bump and I had them until an ex stole them so she could say she cut my nuts off. One day I parked too close to the admin parking lot and the superintendent saw my nuts dangling and banned my car from the campus (I parked there anyway, and tucked them up under the bumper like the drag [car] wannabe it was. Good times, man.

There's also a third theory about the origin of truck nuts. Some will say that it's the Americans putting their own spin on the plushies hanging off the back of some Japanese drift cars in the 90's. It wasn't that uncommon to use these to show how much sideways force they could get. But let's be honest, no-one owning an f250 is gonna be drifting.

The only suitable truck Nuts were the big set of actual threaded 6 nuts welded onto the bits of chain.
That wasn t gross or obscene, just amusing and badass, even if they are likely to obliterate the entire rear of the vehicle when you go for a drive.
Like going for a run and breaking your own legs from your balls hitting them. nasty.

In my town everyone has 2 trucks. They're business only truck which is pretty much nice and stock. Then you have your hell raiser that is intended to be loud, badass, and piss people off. Massive veiney truck nuts bring any hell raiser together
