Before you nominate Duntov for sainthood, please read his bio. While an EMPLOYEE of GM, Duntov WAS a racecar driver, for Porsche. After winning LeMans in his class while driving for them, he made Porsche what it is today, the powerhouse that eats Vette's lunch in competition events, and outsells every Street corvette with cars that cost twice as much as Corvettes. how he do dat? First, on one of his many visits to Stuttgart while a GM employee he insists Porsche use skid pads for testing, like the ones already in use by GM. Second, he invents the one device that took the squirrely little 356, and made it into the icon it is today. He invented the front sway bar for both their street sports car 356 and race cars. Porsche indirectly attributed their success to him for this, and offered him jobs and a complimentary Porsche. Why GM do dat? let Duntov work for the enemy? GM was developing their own secret anti-Porsche weapon, and wanted more information about rear engined, swing-axled cars. Anybody, anybody? Yes, i will call Duntov the FATHER OF THE CORVAIR. While Duntov was double agenting for Porsche/GM another good ole boy on the GM employ was working a skunk works project for GM. In the late 50's Carroll Shelby was charged with combining the simplicity of the Corvette production with the power and luxury of a Ferrari. He designed the Scaglietti Corvette, look it up. It looks like a Ferrari 250 GTO, 2 years before the Ferrari 250 GTO was inventedlike this GS, GM management pulled the plug with only 3 examples of the Scaglietti Corvette built. GM gave Shelby his pink slip in his last paycheck envelope. And Shelby went on to design his own LeMans winning and world class winning racecar, the Shelby Daytona Coupe, his own street sports cars, the Shelby AC Cobras, and then Ford asked him to take charge of their 1964 FUBAR GT 40 program after the losing LeMans try. In 1965 Ford again interfered with his 1965 debut and again FUBAR-ed it. But in 1966 Shelby received full GT40 program oversight and the rest is history - 1966-68 Lemans wins. Isn't it interesting that Corvette Racing did not sponsor factory team entries at LeMans until 1999, 3 years after Duntov's passing? Chevy and GM had the greatest American Sports car designer of the 20th century, Carroll Shelby, and sent him packing. Let the praise fall where it is rightfully deserved. This back story is so weird you couldn't pay screenwriters to make it up. But do read the Duntov bios. it is all there.

Where do you get your facts? It was Chevy that broke the AMA deal by running their racing program out of the back door. They were supporting private SCCA and stock car teams running their products unofficially, Ford basically saidif that's what's going on why hide it? and went full factory. And Chevy knew all about what zora was doing with the GS's, how do you think he got his hands on those aluminum 377 small blocks? They hooked up with Mecom and the Nassau race organizer to get those cars down there. The sweetener was Chevy giving Mecom one of the small blocks to run in his Lola sports prototype. That's the car that beat everyone in every event it entered. The GS's scored class wins. The ones that finished that is. And they DID run in Nassua the next year, only by then Shelby had prepared a 390 Cobra for that ass, it pretty much did to the Chevy's what they had done to the 298 snakes the year before. right up to the point it broke.

Sorry, that social media got upset with my post that Chevrolet built some very nice cars using American Steel and American workers That they considered I was being discriminatory to Chinese cars. But I understand now where they are coming from now With the Germans banning of american products as they could be dangerous to the health an safety of their citizens. Americans should also get the hell out of Germany as they need the space for their new immigrants from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan Protests now going on to remove US military bases the f. ck out of Germany now going on that CNN is not reporting to you because they only have time for Don Lemons rasist remarks The American Consulate office only has time for their tax free BMWs an free Booger King chemical burgers that they do not have time for you either

This was a great video, but it also must be said that even though the Cobras did dominate the race tracks of the 60's, they did not always win, out side of the Grand sports names like Dick Thompson, Dick Boo, Dick Gulstrand and Bill Sherwood beat the Cobras at there own game in Stock 63- Z0-6 Racing Corvettes. Dough Hooper won the first Riverside race against Cobras in 1963. The L88 427 66 Corvettes painted the writing on the wall for Cobras By 1969 Corvette was king again. and as they say the rest is History

I love the Concept Stingray Racer from 65'. For two reasons, By itself, it is cool looking. and I personally believe it was the inspiration for the Mach 5. It was a Racing Car turned Street Car. The Mach 5 was a racing car, disguised as a street car. They look similar in shape. They could sit two people, though it was only temporary on the Stingray.

Your information is not accurate, the Superformance cars are replicas licensed through Duntov Motor Company to Superformance, only Duntov Motor Company holds the GM license and can and is licensed to build continuation cars and has built 13 with the VIN numbers continuing form #006 onwards. Cool video but fact checking is important.

Pops the hood, this one is powered by the new corvette LT4. No longer interested. Those engines are horrid compared to the history of chevy, those engines are pathetic and can only be modified to just under 900 hp for a BRAND NEW engine. Where as the ls9 can make multiple thousands.

I have a 1984 convertible Corvette not sure when or who built it. I was told that it was built in Los Angeles and it was a prototype for the convertible C4. I was thinking of selling it if anyone is interested let me know 1953oldsgmail. com.
