It simply comes down to Building Reliable, longer lasting vehicles. I was a ALL AMERICAN Vehicle buying individual most my life. Starting see the American Vehicles Prices Climb thru the Roof, but Quality and Reliability Decline. After My last purchase of GMC Denali Product ( which i have been very disappointed in ) I decided I'd do allot more research before ever buying my next Vehicles. Luckily I came across SCOTTY SITE, Being someone who try's to do allot of my own Mechanical Repairs, It was easier to understand what SCOTTY was saying, IT MADE ALLOT OF SENSE and opened my eyes about allot of things I either wasn't considering or was just over looking about NEW VEHICLES. Everyone wants a Nice looking Vehicle, but Buying a Endless Money pit is BAD NEWS. Like the Newer Land Rovers ( which my wife loved the looks of ) or a Mercedes with endless amount of PLASTIC COMPUTER MODULES, or BMW and their Real Cheap plastic under the hood that degrades quickly, THESE ARE VERY IMPORTANT ITEMS SCOTTY HAS REVEALED, which saves people from making serious purchase mistakes ( Like I did with my GMC ) Actually its been a really good thing to be able to learn the truths about some many different aspects about Auto Manufactures. Fiat, Renault, Ta Ta, Cherry from China etc. , the average person has no idea about these companies and the crap they produce, but go out and buy a vehicle that are part owned by them, and live with buyer regret! So I Say Thanks Scotty for all the info

The reason Toyota will stay on top for the foreseeable future is American auto companies like value engineering and cost down engineering more than Continuous Improvement. They would rather save a few bucks now instead of investing in and sticking to a continuous improvement system that will save them time money and increase sales later. When GM and Ford said people don't buy sedans, so we will quit making them Toyota said Hold my beer and check out my new Camry sedan. The problem wasn't that you couldn't sell a sedan. The problem was GM and Ford were making crap. Make a good product at the right price and people will buy it. Not rocket science.

I work in Software Engineering industry. We use use The concept SCRUM on daily basis to start operations and reach to the deliverable product. The the SCRUM is nothing but the incremental production introduced by TOYOTA. Also we use methodology named LEAN to identify and remove wastes (time and resource wastage especially) is again introduced by TOYOTA.
Great company, great minds, great ideas!

Funny How The Early Lexus were almost an exact copy of a Mercedes. Just different Badges. We don t need no stinking badges. We just copy & improve. Let Others do the design & we will make it better. Once we get ahead, then we will design. & Then Scotty Kilmer will tell everyone Toyota is the Best. Now That s Thinking into the Future. Tora, Tora, Tora! Thnx! CJ

In 1965 my dumb dad buys a Corvair then decides to take it to Italy for six months as he looks after my sick grandfather. Well, the car already used to overheat in New York's hot summers and of course it broke down even more in Italy and he never even bothered to bring it back to the states, when grandfather died. How I wish he had bought a Toyota instead!

In 2004, I bought a new Chevrolet Silverado pickup. It was not my primary car so I put only 16K miles on it in 4 years. It was in the shop every 6 months. At 7K miles, the ignition relay quit on a Sunday afternoon in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone service. I finally sold it and never bought a GM product again.

Great post, Scotty. Glad to see a little more history in your posts. The evolution of the automobile is a great subject: one worthy of admiration. I know. I've had the finest of cars in both aesthetics and performance. Even my dad's stories I smile whenever I remember them. He had some good ones. I'm sure your dad did too.

Looks like Scotty finally got endorsement from Toyota Corp. itself! Hence a full fledged commercial for Toyota! Hehehehe!
Bdw I do love Toyota! Reliable and robust! I won't want a car that has some features not working or has something broken! Bugs me too much, even if my car has something slightly off I can stand it!
