After 134 years of its operation, Belgrade Main railway station is closed. The last day of train departures and arrivals was June 30, 2018. The completely wrong traffic policy of the country has led to the removal of the railway from the city center of Belgrade. Today passenger trains are departing from station Belgrade Center (Prokop. The new railway station is not entirely built and it is located outside the city center and thus without the possibility of easy access. In this clip, many recordings were made during the month of June. The work of the locomotive turntable, at locomotive depot Belgrade is also shown. There are also recordings made during the several cabview rides of old Belgrade railway junction. These recordings will be shown in its entirety in a new clips. On June 15, 2018, the last train from Belgrade to Bar departured from the Main Railway Station in Belgrade. The last commercial train dispatched from this station is train 340 from Belgrade to Budapest, at 21: 40, June 30, 2018. The departures of the last trains are emotionally accompanied with the song: A sad adio

Well, good reasons as the city hall didn't spend a dime on renovating/upgrade the main station so rusty weeds all over the station never kept clean and a lot of metal junks/scraps to recycle and get money back from it. I wish there were somehow a live cam to see it all gone and redevelopment as I know the st. reigs, developers, not personally but they have one hotel/residents (what was trump tower) here in the heart of Toronto.
The only thing I feel so sorry is about the staff/employees from that main station. hope they all have continuous jobs.

I recall going to my local station in 1963 only to learn that the previous day it had closed. Again, the work of Beeching. A sad day for all. The buildings that should have qualified as a heritage site were torn down and the history of the station died on that day. Corby, Northamptonshire, went the same as many others. Thankfully we have many photographs and film clips of a bygone era. Thanks for this video, Mr. Dulevoz. Its a reminder of what was a thriving business in your country. I am in Croatia where there are no railway services of significance.

Why did they discard such a beatiful and monumental train station? Look at Budapest Keleti, Paris Gare du Nord, Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, NY Grand Central or Amsterdam Centraal, these are historic rail terminals which are seen as a city and railway heritage and always being modernized. No one thinks of discarding them.

Just think, planning in Paris was far better. The old stations were built as monuments, and are easily accessible still. BTW why does Serbian RR let its locomotives get so dirty. Even our freight system in Tucson (Union Pacific) has a siding where the locomotives are scrubbed and cleaned all of the time.

I was in Belgrade twice. Spent a lot of time on these platforms inhaling the atmosphere of this station. The new one sucks! Greetings from Poland.
