Christmas has come and gone, most of us have eaten too much, with little or no exercise. Finally the sun has come out, making a walk seem like a good idea, with Arundel (located on England-s South Coast) being nearby, it seemed an obvious choice. Earlier this year, prior to buying the FDR-X3000R I had already decided to go 4K and purchased Sony-s FDR-AX53 Handycam with balanced optical steady to replace an earlier model also equipped with the excellent optical steady feature. This is my fifth Sony camera purchased over a period of almost 20 years. Incredibly they all work to this day, despite being dropped, abused and heavily used. This latest camera is a tiny sports camera with optical steady built in and taking it for a walk seemed like an obvious way to test it. There are plenty of excellent videos on You Tube showing how the camera works with video shot mainly from cameras mounted on motorbike crash helmets, but I wanted to see how well it coped with being hand held whist walking, as this usually results in almost unwatchable video. The camera does not completely remove the up and down motion caused by walking, but the result is much smoother, than I obtain when using a top end GoPro camera. The camera was mounted on a Sony VTC-STG1 shooting grip, which also holds the viewing screen, turning it into a cut down Handycam. The 4K setting, did not allow me to set the camera to narrow vision, as I did not want my video to be distorted with the fisheye effect that is often apparent when using wide-angle settings. I opted for 1080P at 25 fps with narrow vision selected. Like most people I don-t want to take a large camera and tripod with me when I go for a walk, so I was keen to see how I got on with Sony-s new baby. I was pleased with the result but don-t take my word for it, watch the video and make your own decision

Hi Tim! It's a nice camera! Very smooth, as if gliding along with you & has captured great details in close up, distance & wide angle. I have seen cameras fitting into one's palm & doing a great job. It's technology! Hope you enjoy shooting new uploads. As the New year is round the corner, I wish you happy travels & a bigger viewer base in the New year. Best wishes!

Isn't it marvelous what good modern cameras can do and in such a small size! A very desirable device. Dear Santa, for next Christmas.
