Merhaba! Welcome to this new trip report, that's a trip I wanted to do since a long long long time. The Optima Express, probably the most unique auto train in Europe, it's not a adventure it's a whole odyssey! - TRIP INFORMATION - RECORDED IN JULY 2022 Railroad company: Optima Tours GmbH Train type: UIC-X, AB30 and various engines From: Edirne to Villach Hbf Time: Around 35 hours Price: 205
Date: 2024-01-09

the disinfectant spray one would suppose was the same as it was being used on planes coming to the USA. it is supposedly to kill any bug that the passengers had brought into those os so bugfree and beautiful countries. Wonder if they also did disinfect freight trains or freight forwarder carriers like DHL or the likes? AND of course ships that arrive with goods from all over the wold.
Though what makes me wonder. Why not run the train through to Germany? When it is a train to provide for Turks to go on to vacation back home to Turkey? Germany has a far bigger populain turkish speaking people then Austria. When the cars come off the train, i didn't recognise AUSTRIAN number plates shown

Very very interesting video. I-m a train buff from my school days when my dear Father Max was an electric train driver in South India. I love the way you describe every detail and place. It was lovely to see the countryside of Serbia and Croatia. I-ve been on the train from Paris to Lourdes in the south of France. By the way those auto carriers look exactly like the ones used by Indian Railways. I like the Bulgarian loco. I wonder what the power output of that loco is. I would love it if you do a video of a long distance journey on the Indian Railways. Thank you very much for this enjoyable and very clear video and cheers from Australia.

Thank you very much for recording your travels!
I used to live in Villach a few years ago, quite close to the trainstation; my workplace was also in the vicinity. Watching the trains everyday, I had no idea there was one going all the way through the Balkans straight to Turkey and back! Seeing that station really makes me nostalgic: D
You definitely make me wanna travel by train too now!

The staff are -rats of Tamil-! Do you know that book: -Murder's Little Sister-? It's a long story how I got that paperback book from a yardsale in England, mailed to me in Manhattan, NYC. Pamela Branch was from Ceylon, as it was called. I found out she had died before I read her book(s.

I fully enjoyed this video. It-s so enjoying and entertaining. In fact, we want to make trips like these. But, we need a good guide and a travel agent to make our journey smooth. In my country all tailor made packages to all the usual cities which we are very tired off seeing again and again.

The real reason for the return of sleepers is that air-travel is going to be phased out as too pollutant and carbon intensive, although the actual effect of it is that the contrails spread out and cause global-warming. Learn to love trains and boats again.

deze trein reis heb ik 5x meegemaakt maar dan in de jaren 80 en zonder auto's, toen moesten we instappen in hbf Munchen. daar stonden toen te Turkse trein klaar. Munchen - Oostenrijk - oud Yugoslavie - Bulgarije - eind station Sirkeci Istanbul. GEWELDIG WAS DAT

To the content creator: please talk less. You-re throwing too much subtitles. You dont need to explain everything you do in subtitles. Its hard to focus and enjoy the video bcz your subtitle explanations are meaningless most of the time and super annoying.

Yeah, no train hailing from Serbia is on time. Back when Vieanna was building it's new Haubtbahnhoff, Avala was rerouted to Prague. Well. I recall it coming on time like eight times? We used the train as a marker, where and when to meet with friends.

Small correction about the Bulgarian loco - the Class 46 by Electroputere is no longer the most powerful. In 2020 some 15 Siemens Smartrons (class 80) were employed, which are about 10% more powerful and officially they are now the most powerful ones.

Forty years ago my future wife spent one week to travel from Yekaterinburg to Vladivostok by similar train. Unfortunately there were not smartphones in that time. It would be great. Anyway, thanks for the video.

In this video you mentioned that the lady troughs his whole garbage outside train! And then passed certain comments. This is the result of your imposed civilization in the form of mustafa kamal ata turk

21: 23 those are some insanely good prices for very decent meals. and the one you took looked very good too.
some improvements on the tracks, bring the commute down to under 24h, and it's a real deal.

I quit this video after 4 minutes. So much text to read! I guess you must have some reason not to narrate it with voice. I would have enjoyed it with a spoken narration.

Don't mind the number of borders the train crosses, bringing change in number of engines running per country, as long journey is satisfactory in service, and a enjoyable one.

You passed Rakovica in Belgrade and not so far away is place where i live. Its interesting to see people boarding all the way from Turkey near my home. Excellent video!

Good afternoon, I am a train lover from INDONESIA. This video gave me a lot of information about long-distance trains in Europe. What a BEAUTIFUL trip.

You should do the same route in 6-7 years from now and see the changes that happened. Serbia started investing a lot in railroads.

If so teach Howard Chauffeur world history.

What about visas? If one is non US non EU, does he have to obtain visas for every country the train will pass?

From my point of view, you should use your voice instead of typing. It will enhance viewer's interest in videos.

The litter lady might want to try a whole new concept in handling waste. It's called -a rubbish bin-.

I gave a question. How do they unload cars, the space is small to open the doors and how do they get in?
reply

for make journey confirmable, Railway should install, Air Condition and Good food on the wheels.

Instead of captions why not talk, some people are slow readers like me, so read or watch video?
reply

Unfortunately the onscreen subtitle narration was very difficult to make much sense of.

It would be better if you could provide an audible description along with the subtitles.
