I was disappointed with photo ops of 4449 this year. It was raining and its use was restricted between Oaks Park and the Ross Island Bridge, probably owing to difficulties with the MAX line and Bus traffic. I did get on the bank about half way down where the bike trail passes under the rails but the light was poor and I could not get far enough away to get nice images. It was so cold that I ran out of stamina to try any more. It would have been nice to take photos of it in front of the Museum there, but it was only there in the dark. Bummer.

I LOVE Portland! Not only is it close to where I live, but it's the perfect place to trainspot! It's trains GALORE in Portland. I've been to the Oregon Rail Heritage Center, where they keep 4449, and there were trains from steam locomotives to streetcars.

Thats weird. I've lived in Portland for 12 years, and still am living there, yet I havn't seen the Daylight (#4449) pull a mixed tourist passenger train except for when I ride the Holiday Express. How long were you in Portland?

It's funny how a freight train passed through, then the 4449 goes through there later on as though it's saying, -Hold on, guys! Wait up! Wait for me! -

P. P. S. Visit the Doyle McCormack Train museum which holds three steam trains including the Daylight, and two Nickel Plate Diesels, plus a few cars.
