Seondly, an eating disorder is a mental illness and they affect the nutrition of an individual. But getting someone the right nutrients doesn't mean that they will be on an easy road to recovery. That's why people relapse, because eating properly doesn't fix the underlying mental health problems which have to be adressed.
Thirdly, if she wanted nutirtional guidance she can see a dietician. If she wants help with her mental health, she can see a therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist. The fact is that you're not in the position to be offering this kind of guidance to someone who is potentially vulnerable and who you may not guide in the right direction. The possibility of someone with an eating disorder not responding well to the vegan lifestyle you promote is a risk that you should not put them into the position of agreeing to.
It is totally up to the people you are trying to reach out to, to decide what to do. But, a large portion of what you advocate is based on your own personal experience which cannot apply to everyone.
What you say is influencial and to many people, a reliable source of guidance or advice. However your claims of being able to help people 'fix' mental health issues is a stretch too far, so please don't claim that your lifestyle is a 'cure all' because it simply is not. It is admirable that you want to do this to help others and for many, that is what you've done for them. Just please don't make the claim that your mental health is simply a consequence of poor nutritional choices because that doesn't account surely for any or all mental illnesses. It can be part of a treatment, but it has to be included with other recovery steps.
Thank you and I sincerely hope you have a very lovely day.

this is the equivalent of saying just eat to someone with anorexia or EDNOS. its not that easy nor simple, and teaching someone to be vegan wont help? when you first stop eating, its highly likely that your brain is working properly and normally from food intake from the past 12-24 hours if you had any. nutrition doesnt equal a sane mind. you could have BED or B/P and be riddled with mental illnesses. you are creating and spreading stigma we are currently fighting against. if you really had an ED in the past, you would understand. total and complete recovery takes 3< years, not a 3 month vegan school vacation. your past experience DOES NOT compare to that of a professional and you have no right, authority or qualification to be helping her out.

You are ridiculous. You are NOT qualified to tell lots of people struggling with A MENTAL ILLNESS they are wrong because recovering is sooo easy. If you say so, yoy have NEVER had an eating disorder. Do you think you are someone to advice people with mental issues? Are you a qualified doctor? Do you think that because you are vegan you know more than doctors? No mental illness (and eating disorders are) is caused because of someone stopping eating, that is ridiculous. They stop eating because of a mental illness. This video is SO disgusting, so unrespectful to so many people suffering out there, and you are there, thinking you are someone to advice other people with all this rubbish. What a karma you deserve.

You seriously have no idea what you're talking about. An eating disorder is a mental health issue, and you're addressing it as if it's some sort of physical condition she is living with (I am aware that her physical body is affected by her eating disorder. You're clearly incredibly ignorant, making comments or statements saying just eat, it's your brain that is undernourished, that's making you like this. An eating disorder isn't as simple as just eating. Veganism isn't a cure for eating disorders, it's a lifestyle. This girl needs HELP, and I can most certainly say, not from you!

How do you want to help Vanessa but don't even care enough to watch the entire video. Egocentric, is the vibe you radiate Freelee. You are not qualified to give medical advice to anyone. Just because you've been through something maybe similar to what she is going through, does not mean you have the right or understanding to TREAT HER. The only people that can treat her are doctors, if she so chooses. You are going to seriously hurt someone with your oh I can heal you, I know all mentality. As someone who claims to have recovered from an eating disorder, YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER.

An eating disorder is a psychological condition, not a physical one. I developed an eating disorder on a vegan diet (and a healthy one. It has nothing to do with whether or not you're getting enough carbohydrates or nourishing yourself. It's a mental disorder. Even when I do nourish myself, the voice is still there. It doesn't go away. Eating disorders stay with you for life, even when you've recovered. The advice that you're giving is dangerous, Freelee. You're unqualified to be giving advice on eating disorders, or on any medical or psychological subject, for that matter.

If she's suffering from an eating disorder, she needs to see someone who specializes in mental health and is actually TRAINED to help people with mental disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, etc. Becoming vegan is not going to help anything because she is suffering from a MENTAL disorder, not something physical. yes it has physical side effects, but it stems from the brain. Do your research before trying to play doctor with people who are suffering and professional help, or you can actually make it worse.

are you seriously going to try and treat someone with a mental illness with a diet? are you kidding me! she needs a psychiatrist not a new diet. eating disorders are not a matter of just physically eating and you're all better then, no you need sometimes years of therapy to over come an ED! plus i don't see anywhere that you're a doctor so just stop.

Freelee sit down. Be humble. You are not a trained medical professional or a therapist. Having read a few books and loosing weight does not get you a medical degree idiot. You didn't say anything we don't know, but curing a mental disorder (yes, an eating disorder is a mental disorder) doesn't just take putting food in a person's mouth.

This is really dangerous and wrong, to say that a mental illness is caused by a bad diet, and to say that recovering from that illness is easy if you just eat. If you are suffering from an eating disorder please don't listen to freelee and seek out help from a professional! Love and strength to all of you in your journey!
