Models Talk: Racism, Abuse and Feeling Old at 25. For decades, modeling was the silent profession. But not any longer. Mona: I can understand the race thing, but not the age thing. You know what the game is before you even play. If you not a millionaire by 25, quit modeling and start on your new phase of life. You cant stay in grade school your whole life. You picked at industry with an age limit!

Women need to say no more often, they have to be less agreable, learn how to negotiate on their behalf and do not let people push them around. But of course, kids age 14-18 often do not know how to do that. If all models where man over 18-20 it would be different cause man are way less agreable and say no more often, they also do negotiate more, without expecting to make everyone happy. I feel bad for the underage girls, the parents should know more about the industry and protect them. And it's true, women decide more than 70% of purchases, if they stop buying Magazine with 14 year old girls modeling couture, and the models where older, or always with an adult helping them so they don't get abused, the industry would have to change faster. That's why Naomi always was so brutally honest, and said no quite often, she knew it was the only way to demand respect.

As someone of eastern ethnicity living in North America I have never seen myself represented in the western media, still don't see myself (even in videos like these where diversity is the topic, and probably never will see myself. People should stop trying so hard to achieve diversity because it's never gonna happen. And speaking from experience it really doesn't matter. I wouldn't watch a show in Asia and expect the people to be white or African. Or I wouldn't go to Africa and expect African media have white or Asian people, etc. etc. Same concept. It's just about the place where companies and things originate from.

at 4: 56, her words were gold: Im a model but also a role model, being a role model isn't about showing people how to look like you, being a role modal is about using your freedom to show other people it's safe to be themselves A role modal is showing an example of someone being themselves - it does not mean you copy them but feel you can also be yourself but you need a modal/example first of another person doing that

Im 25 and Ive never experienced a proper youth. My life was super rough. But now that Im 25 and wanting to have fun, fall in love, be joyful and young and everyone my age already acts old it makes me feel even more depressed about myself. I still wanna live like Im young because my youth was stolen from me and I still have a young spirit and I feel my life has just begun: (

I started modeling at 14. I remember being told my hips were too big at 39 inches. I was 5'10'' and 130lbs. This contributed to a severe eating disorder which fortunately saved me from the industry. I'm 25 today, and this still impacts me more than you could imagine but at least my career isn't based on my looks. Stop preying on young girls.

Girls we only need one person in the world to find us beautiful. Why are so many women obsessed with being considered pretty by most men?
Please keep in mind that the fashion industry gives you a biased idea of what is perfect.
If you believe you are beautiful most people will consider you as such no matter your race or age.

Just want to remind everyone that Indian people are Asian (specifically South Asian. East Asian isn't the only Asian there is. Asia is the largest continent populated with people and is so much more diverse than most people think. There are East Asians, Southeast Asians, South Asians, Central Asians, and Southwest Asians.

They're all effortlessly beautiful and gorgeous.
Your woth is not defined by how people treat you or perceive you. Your worth is defined by knowing how special and unique you are and that you have far more better things to look forward to in life. Compliments and preferences are a poor diet for you to live off of.

This is where I think Africa ( well am ngoni from Zambia so will speak for my people) has it well. Beauty is seen in growing older and wiser. Age is a number and the older you get the better. I have looked forward of getting older in fact being young is not necessarily liked so much
