WHEN Lisa McAloon-s milk supply was running low, her sister-in-law, Janelle, stepped in to help feed her baby son. Lisa, 33, was initially apprehensive but absolutely trusted Janelle, 31, to do it. Janelle told Truly: -It wasn-t even a question, it was the first thing I wanted to do to help her. - The pair, from Seekonk, Massachusetts, then decided to post a video about it on TikTok as a way of challenging some of the taboos around breastfeeding. While they got a lot of love and positivity for it, they also received judgemental comments. People said it was -wrong-, -weird- or that Lisa must be jealous. But Lisa and Janelle believe it-s brought them closer and want to continue to normalise taboos around breastfeeding. Lisa told Truly: -What does it matter? It-s my sister-in-law, it-s my baby and he-s getting fed and he-s happy and he-s healthy so it shouldn-t matter how he-s getting those nutrients

This is truly AMAZING! I could only hope that if I needed help with feeding my child that if I were in this same situation my sister inlaw could/would feed my child. Absolutely nothing wrong with it at all, completely natural and it's not like she's giving her baby to a complete stranger and asking them to feed him! She trusts her, and knows her, and knows what she's eating and drinking and all of that important stuff as well. Thank you ladies for opening people's eyes to this omen or taboo on breastfeeding and stuff.

74 years ago when I was born in a small country hospital, a lady gave birth to twins in the next ward. After a couple of days, the Matron came and spoke to my mother. She said that the lady's milk hadn't -come in- yet and that the nurses were worried about the twins. The Matron said that -you have plenty of milk, could you help out? - My mother replied that a baby was a baby and they needed to be fed. So she fed the twins, and myself, for the next 2 or 3 days until the lady's milk -came in-.

This is such an intimate act much more so than say your sister giving your child a bottle in your case its very special given you are married to twins so all your children share DNA anyway its also important to note as you both say you trust each other completely and given you are married to twins its not hard to believe that you both have very similar habits when it comes to food and lifestyles. Well done ladies I'm sure that little man appreciates his Aunty feeding him so well.

I did this with my sister-in-law's twins. It was unusual at first, only because we now live in an independent/ non-communal society where mothers hesitate to ask for help or lend help, but when a baby needs to feed they need to feed, and it was super convenient because my baby was alseep and my sister-in-law could only nurse one twin at a time. So it just became natural for us. It's a bonding experience for the whole family. It's lovely how close these sisters are -

I don't see anything wrong with this but I just can't see why people post everything personal on you tube and millions of people are watching just to get noticed. What you do with your life should be be kept in your life not in front of other people. If you think there's nothing wrong with someone else nursing your baby then why put it on you tube. If you get negative comments then you created the problem. Not everyone is agreeable with what you do in your life.

In the movie we were soldiers with Mel Gibson. In the training scen he stated that the baby was feed by every woman in the tribe. To inspire warriors to see the whole tribe as family and all the women as his mothers. That builds a bond and attachment to each other.
I think it's wonderful and what a great gift you give eachother

Nothing Is wrong with this did you know Slave masters wives use to make the Breast feeding slaves feed their own babies so their breast wouldn't sag? It's a beautiful thing especially from his auntie. I love this. Because sister in laws are usually not that close. So this is beautiful - - -------------

Really don't care except this kid when he is a teenager this will be out there for all his school mates to see and it will be something that they will hound him about just another example of people only caring about what they feel at that moment and not caring how it will impact him later in life.

Not every woman is given the opportunity to breastfeed and a lot of them get frozen breast milk online from someone you don-t know and this is so much better because it is your family. Bless you for stepping up and giving that little boy what he needs with no hesitation. Family is everything

So weird but if it makes the baby happy heck go for it. atleast you didn't breastfeed your kids til the age of 4yrs there is crazy moms out there breastfeeding their kids til 4 or 5 years and now that's sick. but again if the baby is happy let him stay hapoy who cares what people say.

This is pretty common in Asian communities, I don't why we are making hype about it. My younger brother was breastfed by my mothers elder sister and i was breastfed by my fathers elder cousin when my mother was sick. Western society is messed up and are of pervert mentality.
reply

This is extremely common in Muslim and Arab cultures. women breast feed each others babies for centuries. and when they do so the babies are considered as - breastfeeding sibilings- and unable to marry each other as they are considered as brothers and sisters when they grow old

I-ve not breastfed someone else-s child directly but I have donated my own milk to a milk bank here in the UK. My son also received donor milk when he was still in hospital. Is this so vastly different? Donating milk is one of my proudest achievements. I gave away 6L.

This was super common in Indian families before. When everybody used to be in joint families. Sister in laws or relatives used to feed when someone had supply issues. There's nothing disgusting about it. It's actually good for the baby's health.

My sister had sepsis after having a c section and could not breast feed her son because she was so sick I was already breastfeeding my daughter that was 2 months old and well my nephew needed me so I fed him and would do it again if needed be

There is nothing wrong with this! How lucky is she to have someone that she knows so well, trusts, and loves, that is willing & able to breastfeed her baby! ESPECIALLY during a formula shortage! There used to be wet nurses back in the day.

This is fantastic, breastfeeding is such a beautiful thing. What a selfless thing to do, your so amazing. As long as baby is happy and healthy, its not like its a stranger, its family and it does take a village to raise a child. xx
reply

There-s nothing wrong with what you-re doing, you are family and like you explained about the shortage on formula- hey if you-re sharing when you-re low on breast milk, I say do what you gotta do. Thanks for sharing your story -
reply

I think this is beautiful; the baby is receiving vital nutrients that cannot be given from formula. Not knocking formula fed babies. My choice/opinion regarding breastfeeding will always be going natural/ breast fed babies! -
reply

This has been a thing for centuries- so what-s the big deal? As long as the mother and surrogate breast feeding woman are ok with it, then who cares?
The baby gets fed and is happy and the families are happy win, win! -

My mom and her best friend breast fed me and her friends daughter when they helped each other with looking after the others kid- absolutely nothing wrong with being there for each other if you have the ability --

Wet nursing. When my Grandma had a baby very early they lived on a farm in the back woods of Arkansas. They didn't have a cow. So their neighbor helped by nursing the baby. It was a common thing 100 years ago.

I am Malagasy and I have heard from families that my mom lost her mother when she was a baby so it was one of her aunts who breastfed her and her own baby. It can be done. Good job
reply

Technically speaking from a DNA standpoint, her nephew was actually her son to because the husbands are identical, twins. So technically, she-s actually breast-feeding her son.

My grandmother breastfed quite a few babies in her neighborhood. These days I-d be careful who I allowed to feed my baby. These women love and trust one another! Lovely family!

They also do this in the NICU for premature babbles for mums who don-t have a supply I think it-s amazing you offer that for your sister in law! Such an amazing gift to give -
reply

We filipinos are like that too. even if it's not our own child, as long as it help. we willingly offer to breastfed to another child. nothing wrong with helping.
reply

I see nothing wrong with this. I think it's incredibly generous of both mothers to be selfless and ensure the good health and survival of the children.
