Love the afro hair. Im half white and black. My skin is white sad to say but I have afro hair and I am proud of it. I wish I didn't have receding hair as it made me depressed as I felt it was my only -obvious physical trait- of having black in me. I know most online and in person will coddle me but reality is when I visited Chicago again to bury my (black) dad I was treated as just a white man, despite growing up knowing every episode of In living color, family matters, fresh prince, and Cosbys to name a few.

Great. Another one of those ignorant nutcases who think braids are an exclusively African thing.
I mean, I get it. Why opening a book on other cultures' hairstyles and realize you're full of bullsh-t when you can just go ahead and play the victim of -cultural appropriation- and get praised, since you know people are just going to believe you because they're as ignorant as you are and desperate to not be seen as racist?

I'd expect her not to bleach her or anyone's hair, listening to how she wants her hair to be respected. I don't always think people mean to disrespect someone else by having a certain hairstyle. The hair sculptures I totally understand. But braids on their own are from all cultures really. Would it also be disrespectful if you straighten c4 hair? Or hide it with a wig? I'm completely in the dark here.

-Your hair is MAGIC, your hair defies gravity, your hair has power. also don-t let no one touch it- - After years of being disappointed with stylists not being knowledgeable about my hair type, I decided to learn how to do it myself. I think Shamara and others like her offering the master classes is such a wonderful thing!

Some people with tight curly hair have a different heritage but, what can they do to style it when letting it grow is seen as cultural appropriation?
