Bleed someone dry: The English We Speak pedro: Thank you for today's video. I've heard this expression before in a Coldplay's song named Yellow. There's a part of the song which says For you I'd bleed myself dry and I've thought so far that the lyric meant that the singer would die for his lover.

When she was a teenager my sister's unnecessary expenses used to bleed my father dry but thankfully she has been earning her own money since she was 22.
