wild animals would not become extinct if there were less people, that is simple. Why is breeding an animal for death any better than killing a wild animal? I would say it is worse. Obviously we have to look at animal numbers and only take what we can afford to take, it is inexcusable to let ANY animal become extinct because of our own hunger but there are wild animals that we can eat without any danger of that happening. Breeding animals for meat not only leads to the death of domestic animals

Unlike our society these people are not wasteful with their resources, they are living out in the wilderness where it is unlikely that there are any butchers near enough to be useful. The seals they kill will have had a far better life than any farm animal and will most likely be killed with far more respect. The problem is not with hunting wild animals, the problem is that we are so over populated we can no longer hunt wild animals, that we have to breed animals purely to satisfy our hunger.

but to the destruction of natural habitats and hence the death of wild creatures, think how much rainforest has been destroyed to create grazing land for cattle! We are talking about entire ecosytems vanishing so people can enjoy their beef. Farming meat is extremely bad for the environment, whereas if more people were to eat game then this gives an incentive to keep the wild place. I have been to reserves in Africa (beautiful places, true wildernesses) that are keep purely because the animals

there are eaten by people, these animals lead a completely wild life and die a far more ethical death (being shot is quick and relatively painless (if done correctly it is pain free) the same cannot be said for our poor livestock. These areas do not only preserve the animals we like to eat, but the animals that depend on them, in fact an entire ecosystem is being preserved, if people stopped eating 'wild' animals we have lost a huge incentive to preserve these places.

I say long may these peoples continue to keep their traditions, and if that involves hunting seals then so be it. The human race has removed itself so far from nature, which is a terrible thing, to me, almost like cutting out a part of your soul. I think any links we have with the wilderness should be maintained and cherished and maybe one day we shall be able to survive in harmony like we used to.

Its very interesting! I love sled-dogs and polar bears were beautiful. I wish that the inuit would go to the butcher, like everyone else, instead of killing seals. There's no need for anyone to kill wildlife for food these days. Thank you!

My problem is killing of wild animals. That is why so many become extinct. Breeding of animals for eating is better than that, even though I don't eat much meat at all. I'm a wildlife carer and I don't want any wildlife killed.
