Conger eels are not very dangerous for divers. Two weeks ago, a medium sized one (around 150-180cm length) decided I wasn't welcome taking pictures of his lobster friend and got a good grip of my left hand for a few seconds. It's a good pinch, but not painful. It's very rare for congers to atack divers (I don't know anyone personally besides me to whom that happened, they're usually very peaceful. Mooray eels, on the contrary, are a different story. They're generally much smaller, but their teeth are the problem: they can bite off a finger, and the bacteria in their mouth are a nightmare.

Da
Conga eels get insanely huge. I knew a dude who claimed to dive and see one he said its head was as big as a horses head.
