From lizards to adders, Britain is home to some surprising reptiles amongst its vast wildlife. Money: The previous owner of my house had planted black bamboo in the garden. After buying the house I was pleasantly surprised to find this was the home to around 10 slow worms and a few of their kids. I had to remove the bamboo and nowadays I find it rare to spot a single slow worm about. I really did take these creature for granted, there are so many slugs and snails in my garden now they've gone. Sad really, if I knew how blessed I was I would of left it as is

as a kid 50-60 years ago, I used to see small lizards (3-4 head to tip of tail, slow-worms, the occasional smooth snake (not a snake, a legless lizard) and adder, every summer, in the far end of the garden. I haven't seen a single one of those things for 50 years.

On the website, it said that the same lizard isn't rare at all. But then again it's a website that maybe out of date, after all it's said to be rare in Britain.
I live animals that are rare, because they are more mysterious and unique: )

A lizard in my back yard was camouflaged black to match the step railing. I didnt realize he could do that, I was under the assumption he would only match the greenery.
