as a kid 50-60 years ago, I used to see small lizards (3-4 head to tip of tail, slow-worms, the occasional smooth snake (not a snake, a legless lizard) and adder, every summer, in the far end of the garden. I haven't seen a single one of those things for 50 years.

On the website, it said that the same lizard isn't rare at all. But then again it's a website that maybe out of date, after all it's said to be rare in Britain.
I live animals that are rare, because they are more mysterious and unique: )

A lizard in my back yard was camouflaged black to match the step railing. I didnt realize he could do that, I was under the assumption he would only match the greenery.
