In which John Green teaches you about World War II, and some of the causes behind the war. In a lot of ways, WWII was about re woodworker: 2: 50 is this your way of saying guns are bad?
Pro tips from someone who has actually shot a gun and gone through hunter's safety:
1. Never point ANY gun at something you aren't wanting dead (it doesn't matter if it is unloaded or broken!
2. Never put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to kill whatever you're pointing at.
3. Never look down the muzzle of any gun (that's the small end where the bullet leaves.
The officer depicted at 2: 50 is breaking the third rule and the soldier may or may not be breaking the first and second ones (it really depends on how much he likes his commander)

John: -As long as we live in a world of finite resources, the potential for conflict exists. and hopefully we can avoid it-
Economics 101: -Economics is the allocation or management of scarce resources. -
Economist: -We live in a world of scarce resources. -
Imperialist (Or any other ideology really): -We live in a world of scarce resources. -
Me: -So we're kinda stuck with potential conflict pretty much the whole time(looks at a history book or the news) makes sense when you think about it. -

I love the show, it-s very interesting. However, I feel like it is always giving alternative views that -you won-t see in textbooks. -
I feel like most of the people here are preparing for the tests, based on information from textbooks. Can you do some videos formatted for traditional history course information. Ie Hitlers rise to power, important battles and how they changed the trajectory of the war, countries- attitudes towards the war, why America was so late to join the war, etc?

No one is motivated by Nationalism. They are motivated by a desire for resources. Nationalism is the manipulative tool used to bring the masses to your side and make them willing to die for your cause. Nationalism is not a motivation. It is a catalyst.

-Stan, this is the point in the comments when people from the united kingdom say 'WE'RE NOT ONE COUNTRY - WE'RE FOUR SEPARATE COUNTRIES! -
Actually, we are four separate kingdoms (clues in the name dude as well as the flag design.

Germans had to invade USSR because of the oil crisis, and eventually ran out of oil resulting in German demechanization.
Japan had to invade south pacific and attack the USA because USA stopped oil shipments.

- I later calculated that all of the destruction and wasted resources spent on that war could have easily accounted for every human need on the plane. -

I liked this new take on the Second World War. It's one of my favourite topics in History and I always strive to know about different perspectives. Thanks for this video, Mr Green!

As long as we live in a world of finite resources, there will be potential for conflict. Knowing that, hopefully, will help us avoid it.

WWII is not a war between good and evil. It is as ignorant as it is dishonest to allow future generations to cage it as such.
