In this episode we looked at robots and the engineering principles of robots. We learned how robots use sensors to interpret their environment, how actuators and effectors allow a robot to manipulate the objects around it to accomplish a task, and how computers coordinate the efforts of the two. Crash Course Engineering is produced in association with PBS Digital Studios

hi, new to robotics, just wondering if anyone was maybe interested in giving me a private lesson, over media of course, i dont know if it could benefit anyone, maybe someone wanting to do it for fun or just maybe for practice, maybe for like future teachings, just let me know, of course i cant pay, im a young learner sadly but id appreciate the help

-My high school had a very weak science program. Our -robotics- club was really for the building of glorified remote controlled cars a la Battlebots. We had to meet after school with limited resources, learned very little, and only ever built one competitive model with a ton of help from our sponsor. -
-Ah, the good old days. -

We've always considered both autonomous physical systems and simple manipulators as robots. A robotic arm is still a robot, whether being manually controlled or on autopilot. I'm not even sure robots strictly require inputs besides position feedback.

I enjoy your engineering courses very much! Thank you so much!
I would really like to work in this field. But I am not sure which major is the most suitable, engineering or computer science?

Atlas: PARKOUR! -jumps onto chair- PARKOUR -kinda jumps onto a ledge that is like 4 inches off the ground- PARKOUR!
Also Atlas: -Jumps off highest tower and lands a 100 backflip.

Better is -from driving car to playing chess-. It took me A LOT fewer amount of time to drive a car than to play chess at an advanced level (not even at a master level.

I do wish I would-ve paid more attention in engineering class at school and go on to study something akin to this, rather than what I ended up studying.

I just found out now that -Actuators- are an actual thing, and not just a different way to pronounce -Activators-. Mind = Blown
