In today-s episode of Crash Course Zoology we-re going to solve some phylogenetic mysteries! There are so many more questions we have yet to answer in Zoology so grab some fossils, fire up the DNA sequences, and bring your best hypothesis as we try to figure out where all the baby eels are, explain why spiders seem so lonely, and decide once and for all if horseshoe crabs are arachnids!

TIMESTAMPS FOR SPIDERS/ARACHNIDS-

6: 05 -> 6: 10 One, real (a solifugid digging)
6: 15 -> 7: 06 Several, animated (two spiders, and two solifugids)
8: 50 -> 9: 23 One, animated, but only if you are in the camp that horseshoe crabs are arachnids
9: 24 -> 11: 03 Several, animated (one spider, one scorpion, one solifugid, one ricinuleid)
11: 04 -> 11: 32 One, animated, but only if you are in the camp that horseshoe crabs are arachnids
As a spider scientist (and the science consultant for CCZoo, I love these wonderful animals, but I realize that being startled by a spider can be scary (even if you like them. An important part of overcoming arachnophobia is building positive interactions with arachnids on /your/ terms, so hopefully this helps some of y'all do so and enjoy the videos.

All sorts of Devonian fauna n Westfield, New York. The only thing is, they are tumbling along our public beach on Lake Erie, and obviously displaced. It-s a big catchment basin, Tons and Tons of specimens people don-t realize it

The mystery of turtle evolution just blows my mind. We have so little certainty that they could plausibly be closer related to mammals than reptiles.

Outstanding survey. I think you just turned on a huge number of people to study biological sciences. The production and talent was excellent.

This course is the first that I've kept up with as it comes out. Thank you for making such engaging and informative videos.
