I just came home from my daily walk through my local park where i heard around 50+ crows calling like how they do in the video. That was the first time i heard them this upset in 2 years, so i knew something wasnt right. And sure enough when i approached to look what was going on, there was a girl sitting on a bench holding a dead or injured crow. I dont think she was the one hurting it and maybe even wanted to help. But i hope the other crows know that too, or else she wont be able to enter the park for the next years without causing mayhem. Now that i think about it, i walked closely past them, hopefully they dont associate me now with their loss =(

Am a witness-no pun intended-to a somewhat similar occurrence when, in my backyard a decade ago, I observed a crow come down at speed, crash down to the ground with a mighty thund! As I rushed to the scene, scores of its mates dove at me in a whizzing cacophony of threatening display and tried to scare me away! For almost an hour, they hovered on the spot and departed only after seemingly ascertaining that their mate was dead and beyond help. Apparently the bird was a sick old specimen and I guess its mates decided, rightly, that no one was to blame!

Several years ago, I had a couple of dozen crows attacking my back porch and the screens at the back of my house. It went on for a few weeks before I was able to ping two of them with a pellet gun, which wasn't easy, let me tell you. Anyhow, those two were still alive and I put them in a box while I got a camping table and some other instruments out. Then, in full view of their brethren, I slowly tortured them and later hung their carcasses as a warning.
You know, it worked.

I remember I was trying to take care of a dying crow who was sadly very injured and couldn't make a recovery so I tried my best to help him but eventually I had to put him out of his misery,
I don't get many birds but there is always another crow on the ground just chilling outside my house and always peering inside my room, doesn't make noise but just looks at me and gets real close to my room.
I wish I could understand these birds

I live in the country and we have a lot of crows. I don't bother them as I love watching them. They are indeed very smart. I would say there are about 20 to 30 of them and they stay here year round. I feed the local birds all year long as they are fun to watch. wonder what it would take to feed the crows too? They just fly right by and never try to eat anything I put out for the other birds.

Lol thats not a crows funeral. Im native american. ill tell you the truth about crows that this lady cant. When they mourn. they all gather in a tree and stare at a fallen one of their own. After a silent pause. they all take off at the same time throwing final shade over the dead crow blocking out the sun. This is a ritual they've been doing here for thousands of years. Stay baffled

I once watched a crow walk across a crosswalk but it wasn't paying enough attention so it popped when a truck ran over it at like 5 km/h. A bunch of crows sitting on a roof watched this happen and immediately became very vocal and agitated. At the time I thought they were laughing at their unfortunate buddy, but they may have just been discussing the threat of traffic

I've never realized how smart birds were until I went to Boston, Mass.
While walking down the road, I saw a chicken standing on the shoulder. just standing there.
I wondered why it didn't cross the road. and then I heard it.
The crow, flying high above, crying out its warning: Cah! Cah! Cah!

I walked up on a single crow standing over another dead crow in what i would have to describe as much more than just survival instinct or investigation. The way it looked at me and then back down at what I imagine was its family seemed to show deep emotion. These are smart birds.

1st time: free meal
2nd time: you see a reflection of yourself, died, motionless in the hands that fed you.
3rd time: you are not sure about the food you are fed anymore. Are they really peanuts at this point. or were they really the peanuts that you ate before?

reply

Pigeons may not be bothered about the dead pigeon but they can still recognize human faces and remember people that are nice (give them food) and people that shoo them away or don't feed them, so whilst crows are really smart, pigeons aren't actually that daft.

One time my neighbor's cat attacked an american robin, it's robin friend screamed bloody murder beside where it happened for hours and more on the following days. A bunch of different local birds gathered on nearby trees to investigate what's the noise about

Why do you lie in your caption? The video was good, so you did not have to lie. I only clicked on it because I wanted to know about crow funerals. So I guess it was click bait. I hate all these lies that people do. Don't we already have enough of that?

She shouldn't have fed the crows. She's training them to have cross interaction wich decidedly also with creatures as intelligent she's traumatizing them and does not understand the impact of showing a deceased corpse of their kin.

There is a transformer right opposite to our home. A lot of crows die by accidentally touching a wire or some other exposed part. I don't have count on how many times I have heard other crows crawing for the dead one

A crow died in my neighbors yard, right next to my backyard, and there is HUNDREDS of crows in the tree above it and tons more flying in circles around it. It is very loud! Never experienced anything like it before.

LOL that mask was hilariously scary in its own right. Great experiment! It's always bothered me that people dont like crows. This just supporte that bothersome feeling even more.

Every once in a great while I'll be walking to work and I'll see alot of dead crows or ravens either one I think someone is killing them it's no other bird just crows or ravens
reply

I think the crows are warning both themselves and humans whenever they see a woman wearing a skin mask carrying a stuffed crow, thats a clear threat to both species
reply

Girl. Leave those Crows alone. You traumatizing them. And they study faces, so they know it's you throwing peanuts. Peanut Brain is what they gawk at you Lady.
reply

im not a crow but i wouldve reacted the same way and ran. or probably i wouldve attacked that thing. who knows but that is so creepy. poor crows.

Crow is literally a real depiction of Skyrim guards, when you committed a crime, you either pay the fine (peanut) or pay with your blood.

I was at Bearizona. One of the wolves killed a crow and there were three dozen in the trees overhead just going nuts. It was a cacophony.

I'd awoken to a loud murder outside, cawing at this cat that was holding one of their comrades by the wing. I think the bird got away.

Horror movies and religion has played an important part in destroying Crows and Raven's reputation. These are intelligent birds.

Quraan Already mentioned that the crow is the first bird on animal species who learn to be buried dead bodies and dig them in ground

Some crows think my mom and sister look alike, so when they come outside the crows come to see if my sister will feed them.
reply

Deep Look: A dead, taxidermied crow.
Me: Honey, how else do they come? Never heard of anyone taxiderming a LIVE animal.

reply

The music is so over the top, it ruins the piece. There's zero need to try and dramatise it. It's already fascinating
reply

okay so i learned if you hold a dead crow they will become your enemy but if you feed them youll have an army of crows
