Fix It! : Ceiling Lamp LED Upgrade Gadget: I usually don't leave comments on your videos, nothing to critique as you know your stuff.
But this one had me thinking differently. The point of LED bulbs is to save power and sometimes not a lot over a lifetime of the product. A one to one swap for the LED bulbs would had been cost efficient and justified, but the extra time and cost for a different power supply already put the cost of the project in my head over the cost of the saving from the LED bulbs.
You must really like this light?

Recently I have disassembled an old ceiling lamp >40 years old. It was beautiful, but with glass globes, and using old 100w bulbs, it has gone bad. Wires burned badly, bulb holders destroyed. I had to remove all wiring from the tubes, and put new one, keeping its' 2 segment wiring. I also put new bulb holders, and bright led e27 bulbs. Now my granny is happy again with the same ceiling lamp, but brighter, cooler, and more energy efficient, and longer lasting.

There is a big flaw with those led lamps. They have no proper way to disapate heat so they end up cooking them selves an fail after a short period of use. That an the led chips are driven to hard so there life time is about the same as a incodesent. Better to stick with the single chip an run it a few volts low so they last alot longer. Or desing you're own led lamps to inshure the proper desing an proper voltage.

a have a quick question on those terminals can I use those instead of soldering and do I connect them like ++- or +-. basically depending on what my needs are I can have a couple of postive leads then have one postive lead complete and the ground lead but it in the last hole of the terminal. hopefully I am making sense i am relatively new to electronics and not sure if I am getting how these terminals work

So how much did the overall power consumtion drop all things considered? Yes the G4 leds take less power than the halogen ones but as you replaced the transformer and got rid of the extra power supply for the auxiliary LED's, I'm curious about the efficiency side of things. Less conversions happening and a single power supply handling all of them sounds to me like a really good improvement.

It looks bigger than I thought, but it's my own eyes share4. photo/LEDCeilingLight Otherwise, it's like a picture. I recommend a larger space, such as a hallway or large bedroom. It's subtle. It fits perfectly into this space. Crystal it also adds nobility and elegance to the space.

If you turn on four LED lamp you will get power that over 30W. One you LED get 12Watt and you have 4 LED 12Watt4 = 48 Watt. And so you could use your old power supply.
Or I'm wrong?
