No kids myself by i appreciate the rant on keeping kids out of videos. A decade ago it could be more excused because of how new the capability of posting videos online was new and fun. But now if you post your kid online they’ll be tagged in that video for life. Someone in 50 years can use facial recognition to find them in the video when they were a child with just a photo taken on the street and find everything about their family and where they’re from. It’s dystopian but our modern reality, and even if we can’t escape it we should at least expect everyone involved consented to being part of a published video; kids just can’t do that. And that’s not even getting into the using your kids for money thing, just kinda cringe and I’m with you I can’t watch the videos with kids in them.
I enjoy your videos so I hope you enjoy your vacation!

Hello! I’m a big fan of yours. I’m currently stuck on a project and could really use your help if you get time. I’m working with a Kostal RS485 single-turn encoder, and I want to connect it to my PC to read its values. I tried using an RS485-to-USB converter along with Commix 1. 4 software to send hex commands and receive data, but unfortunately, the encoder isn’t returning any values. I have a Kostal 05442000 encoder and would greatly appreciate your guidance on how to set it up and read values from it. Thanks in advance!

Japan is a wonderful country, you'll love it! As you no doubt know, March is Japan's best sakura viewing month and the country comes alive with beautiful pink cherry blossoms lining the avenues, parks and rivers. You'll find the people very pleasant, polite and helpful. Just give them your famous smile, stay cheerful and you'll have a great time. While there be sure to visit Akihabara, aka Electric Town, located in Central Tokyo. It's a must see for all things electronic!

Listen. You're entitled to at least 30 days holiday, plus sick days, plus bank holidays (national holidays) by law in Germany. You don't need to apologise to us for this. Thanks for letting us know, but no need to be apologetic. You have a family, and famiily time is precious. I'm pretty sure most, if not all of your fans will still be here to welcome you back when you return. Stay well. Don't burn yourself out. Thankyou for your content.

Family comes first. That's undeniable.

I sincerely wish for everything in your life to work out exactly the way you want it to. Whatever happens next, you've already left your mark on this world.

I have a 4 year old that goes to daycare everyday. My advice. Do not share food or straws/utensils with your children. Wash hands often when entering the home and before meals. First year of daycare they catch everything. By third year their immune systems are good enough that they don’t get as sick or for as long.

Project idea: Make a gravity-based battery charger, using rocks. Love to see you say Let me recharge the battery first, then lift up a rock and say Done. The rock is tied to a rope that is hooked to a generator. Now how big the rock needs to be so it charges the phone by lifting it once Or at least less than 10 times.

Such a hard balance to strike, so taking some time off to build a buffer sounds Great for Scott; )
Here’s to hoping you figure out how to build and maintain that buffer over the year: balance is everything, and whilst we all very much enjoy your videos I think everyone here appreciates the need for time away!

Awesome. You’ll love Japan especially their electronics stores lol. Depending on the age of your kids if you have there’s tons of stuff for all ages. You won’t want too leave their lol. Except it can get a little expensive I. Some areas but you’ll figure it out. Goood luck and hope it goes well.

Yes. Putting your kid on the internet should be illegal. Some people from in the Eastern EU block still know, why privacy is important! If your parents (or grandparents) have lived under Gestapo, Stasi or KGB rule. You know what I mean. Information can be a deadly weapon in the wrong hands.

Enjoy Japan!
And a flight is a calculated risk. You will enjoy it once on board and you know you cannot do anything if things go wrong. You only choice will be to go mad or enjoy the flight as long as all goes well. Chances are high it will be ok.
So you might end up enjoying it: )

Tip: If you're scared of flying, sit at the back - Aeroplanes have never been known to reverse into anything. (also take a look under the seats, sit on the one they put the back box under, cause if that's all they think they'll get back, it's good to be as close to it as possible); )

The views dropped because everyone is being sidelined by YT Shorts, they never actually get around to clicking on real VODs anymore. As a viewer, I hate the shorts, they are an evil time sink and I miss out on actual content because i got captured watching shorts.

Thank you for the heads up!
Don't worry about the schedule. Good videos and remarkable content as yours take time and energy. Please recharge your batteries and energy.
Have an amazing vacation and reserve time for your family. This is the most important

Stop Apologising. People don’t expect your life to belong to them! Get a life/work balance. Its so much better than apologising to your family for not being there for them cos you were more worried about YT viewers! One life, enjoy the balance.

Nee, is nicht erlaubt. Nicht in den Staaten. Muss dich kaputt arbeiten, sonst biste ein Niemand. But! Etwas was die Amies nie verstehen werden ist dass, dieser Niemand sein Leben geniessen tut und sonst auch ganz gut drauf ist. Viel Spass!

No, I’m leaving Japan after 25 years right before you come over. Try to reach out to our Tokyo Retro Computer users club when you’re here. They’re exactly your kind of electronics tinkerers.
