Electronic Basics #9: Diodes & Bridge Rectifiers Hrishikesh: Hi, I just want to ask a question to you that, can we run DC motors of different input voltage ratings with a single motor driver circuit considering in mind the maximum supply voltage the driver circuit gives which in turn will be used as a information to use the variety of DC motor that can be used to run.

Would a larger diode typicaly have a higher voltage drop? And higher capacity?
So to minimize voltage drop i would use the smallest diode that i can?
Dang i wish i had a perfect diode: P

I have a toroidal transformer that delivers 28 volts ac, but after rectifying it delivers 40 volts! Why is that happening? It does not drop with the load.
