The Liberty Ship is actually the USS General J. C. Breckinridge. A troop ship commissioned in 1945. Saw service in Korea and Vietnam. Struck from service in 1966.

Thanks for the view into the past. I'm 71, so I remember some of this. Most of my old memories are from about 1960 onwards.
