Grant: The Legacy of Ulysses S. Grant - History Jamell: President Grant was a wonderful, caring person. He loved his family and his country. He helped bring about a lot of laws to protect African Americans. He established the first national park. He ensured that his wife and kids were well taken care of as he was dying of cancer. He was not a butcher as the Confederates suffered more casualties than the Union did. Grant cared about the future of this country which was tied to emancipating those who were in bondage. He really was the President who went to bat for African Americans.

He is the greatest American to have ever lived, in any time period, in any generation, by far.
Hiram Ulysses Grant, may you rest in eternal and ever lasting peace, and sit next to God on his magnificent golden throne.
Finally, may he be remembered as the man who saved the nation, the man who united the nation, and the man who as General & Chief and President fought to get the nation on the right track so that all could truly be equal in this great country.
Amen.

US Grant is everything an American should aspire to be. I do hope people seek out his story and find inspiration in his moral courage and iron will. The man persevered and triumphed largely due to his morals, instinct, and courage. It is hard to find more than a handful of US presidents to turn to for an example of true uncompromised leadership, but I will be damned if US Grant is not one. Epic documentary about an American titan.

My entire family says I'm related to Ulysses S. Grant, one of my family members last name is Grant, and my grandpa's last name is Bowles, and apparently a house Ulysses owned is on a road called Bowles road or something so I have a lot of family names also strangely linked to him and apparently the one with the last name Grant directly said to my grandma she is related to him, I hope I can eventually take a DNA test and see

I am 50 yo and was raised on Lost Cause BS. That Grant was a drunk who won by just plowing immense waves of men to their doom until the venerable Lee was worn down. What lies those were. Grant is our greatest general and one of the greatest Americans to ever live. How did we forget that? How could whole country nearly forget one of its greatest sons and allow his name to be so shamefully slandered?

Sometime after Grant-s presidencies he and wife went to England to visit his daughter and new grandchild.
Expecting just a few welcoming dignitaries would be there on his arrival, Grant was flabbergasted to see over 100, 000 Englishmen were there to welcome him!
Grant had won international fame, love, and respect and not the smearing disrespect he was buried under later.

There was also Grant the Failure. all these were true at certain points of his life so pretending it is a myth made up from Southerners is just a myth favekcated by northern sympathizers
Best to show Grabt in all his glory and flaws in order to better understand the man and the circumstances which made him admirable.

I wasn't born in this Country, but as a naturalized American citizen, he represented everything I love of this Country. The more I learn about this man, the more I appreciate him.
Now as then, we are divided, and we are in need men of his courage,
integrity, wisdom, and perseverance to guide us.

Lee a hero and Grant a villain? That maybe the most insane narrative in history and the fact that some people believe that today is disgraceful. Grant is a hero of the highest order who was more important than anyone in preserving our union and Lee was a traitor his country.
reply

Grant saved America, the South were traitors regardless what they think their cause was, just as they were traitors when they tried to physically overthrow the electoral will of the people in the attack on the Capital in 2020.

I think an amazing part of his character is when his father in law gifts him a slave and even when his poor and selling that slave could help his family so much financially he instead -freed the man

For too long, this country has put Lee, Jackson and the Rebel Cause on a sympathetic pedestal. That needs to change! It-s time to bring Grant and Sherman to the forefront of true American Heroes!

Ulysses S. Grant is one of the greatest heroes in American history. He was indomitable, fair, humble, just, and gritty. He is like the warrior-kings of myth made in the form of a modern man.

His great great great great great grandson lives in New Jersey now. I had a talk with him and he said that his great great grandfather looks just like this guy. It-s pretty cool

I am not American by birth but the US flag in my Wall I will bring that with me when the WW3 will start. I will bring that to the Enemy Territory and hoist it high as I could!

The story of Ulysses S. Grant was amazing! The ending of this video almost made me tear up. GRANT WILL ALWAYS BE MY HERO & MY PRESIDENT! People SHOULD RESPECT him MORE!

I wish there were more Grant out there now in the world today? Because we should sure need someone like him to guide us all through the darkness to the light!

Grant beat Lee. But Lee is the man made of marble and Grant is relatively forgotten and Lincoln is a prophet. Even if you win you could be a no one

If You want to pick an american general that could be on the top 10 greatest generals in history ulysses s grant is qualified to be in that list
reply

The final letter to Grant from the former Confederate soldier was so beautiful and eloquent. Grant was such a humble and magnanimous man.
